Treadwright cracking issues?

3 of my 4 treadwright wardens have developed these cracks. They were purchased July of last year, were installed a month after that and have about 8000 miles on them.

They mostly see pavement use, but on occasion a dirt road or grassy field (my front yard or side lot). No rock climbing, no mudding, nothing extreme. Always properly inflated and rotated at 4k miles.

Anyone have any idea what could cause this? I sent an email to their customer service and am still waiting to hear back...

I looks like they are cracking right where they attach the new tread. That could lead to a possible tread delamination. You get what you pay for with these tires IMO. They are still used tires.

These are retreads? Is that even legal?

I believe so. Not that I think it is safe on passenger vehicle tires. Usually a semi truck tire will say on the sidewall that they are retreadable. Not these though.
 
Before I purchased these I had read tons of great reviews and positive things from people with first hand experience.

Oh well. I just got a call from their customer service and they want more pictures. I'll send them and see what they say.

In the meantime she will be getting some new gy duratracs put on tomorrow.

I have also heard positive things from people in regards to these tires, but am still wary of retreads.

Hope their customer service will make things right for you.

Get out of this thread, lol. Yes they are legal. Im tired of people saying stuff like this.

Im a huge treadwright supporter. I have ran three sets, wife is on her first set and have friends that run them. I also have had the cracks show up on my tires after about a year but I beat them. They have always made it 2-3 years with 25,000 plus miles on the muds I have ran with the cracks. Like stated you get what you pay for and I have not had any issues even with the surface cracks. Wife Wardens are over year old and they look pretty good still and no cracks so I always thought it was my muds that I beat. I run them at 10psi on the trail and have ripped some of the large tread off doing some rock crawling but they always held up good still.

So pretty much I have just ignored the cracks and they still have done me good.

I thought this too, but can't figure out what it was. These cracks are on the driver side front and rear and passenger side rear. Passenger front is not showing the cracks. Passenger side rear has it the worst.

I really just wanted to see if anyone that has these same tires have/had anything similar happen.
 
Please only post if you have had experience with these tires. It kills me when people post bad comments about an product they have never used. I have the same tires and regularly air down to 18-20 psi(that's as low as I'll go due to no compressor and still need to drive home), and they have never let me down. I would contact treadwright and see if it's normal and if it's not they will take care of you. And yes you do get what you pay for, so don't expect them to perform like tires that are 250$ each but I would take them over any other budget at tires just because their customer service is great and they won't let you down. Just my opinion.

crawl underneath and check the insides.
those are not cuts, they are cracks.
whether that is bad or not, dunno.

my BFG's have similar-ish cracks...but they are over 10 yrs old now.
 
Like I stated before. I have the cracks. I live with the cracks. The tires still work. I have driven 1000 mile trip on them before. I get 25-30k miles on my muds. I air them down to 10psi regularly. I have torn the mud lugs right off, which ive done with BFGs also, and they still keep going. If you research online you can find maybe one post on any forums stating they had the retread come off the tire from treadwright. They have stated themselves they have had only 1 incident.
 
My treadwrights have been good except the fact that they are wearing horribly on the outer lugs. My outer lugs are at about 25% now whereas the inner lugs are around 65%. I rotate them frequently, always run proper air pressure, and have had my alignment triple checked by two different shops. I have recently replaced many of my front end suspension components and everything is tight.

No one can seem to explain this odd tire wear. I've sent emails to both the warranty and info addresses at treadwright and made countless phone calls with absolutely no response. It's been 1.5 months since I sent the first email...

If it were me, I wouldn't worry about it but I would make a habit out of paying attention to them and periodically taking pics for comparison.

If it forces you into the habit of frequently checking your tires, consider it a blessing.

i meant actually air down like 5-11psi
