Tundra 5100, 99 Tall perch settings????

Greeting members......My billies came in and i will be swapping it out next week.

99 LTD, stock suspensions with OE Tall coils (using these).....I will be putting on the Taco ARB bumper with a winch in the near future,......occasional camping, off road, fishing 4-5 times a year...so

What setting on the Tundra shocks should i have the perch set @ to get the (70%-urban, 30%-off road) best of both world and have a 1.5" lift in the front?

Well since the 99 sits about an inch over I would say the first perch off the top of my head.

I've heard many conflicting details about this...I just ordered my lift kit with front tundra billies w/ my stock 99 springs. What i've concluded is that the first perch will be about 1/2" below stock ride height; second is 1/2" above, and the third perch providing about 1.5 inches of lift above stock ride height. I've also heard not to run them above the 3rd notch unless you want a much-harsher-than-OME-coil ride quality.

Idk about the bumper though...I would expect it to cause it to sag about 1/4-1/2 of an inch below expected lift

yeah, i was thinking about the 3rd perch also, but i've seen a few on the 5th perch also with little to no complaints.

I'm running '99 tall coils on the 4th perch with OME 906 in the rear with no additional weight and it is sitting pretty much exactly level in terms of ground to fender measurements.

This is my exact setup. Tundra 5100's, 99 talls, arb Tacoma bullbar, winch. I also have a 1/2 inch body lift so take that into account. On the 3rd perch my hub-to-fender(limited flares) measurement is 21.75"(driver), 22"(pass). My 33's still rub a bit so I need another perch or a top spacer.

5100's on the top perch do not ride rough and going above the 3rd perch is not preloading the springs I'm currently on the top perch and am stepping to the 4th just because the cv angles and im worried about over extending and binding up .i started on the 3rd perch and the 285's rubbed like crazy I'm on 99 talls 285/75/16 mtr's with stock bumpers
Putting a top plate while your billies are on the 3rd perch doesn't make sense

My ride is pretty good on the 4th perch with '99 talls and 906 in the rear. I'm also happy with the height with my 265/75/r16s. I think the next improvement would to put a longer coil on a lower perch to give the same ride height with a more linear spring rate. I've been researching a bunch of coils and am trying to figure out what coil on the bottom perch on tundra 5100s roughly equals the '99 talls on the 4th perch in terms of ride height. There are a bunch of OME 881s out there, so I may give them a shot. When I measured the Tundra 5100s vs the stock struts, stock height on the 5100s was roughly the 2nd perch. With that, a 2.5" lift spring should give me 2" of lift on the bottom perch.

Here is a link to some pictures with the setup right after it was installed. Its got a few thousand miles on it now, so it may have settled a tad.

Well, had a chance to get my LC 7 wrap on the rear with Taco 5100

Front is on the 3rd perch, back has about 250+ pounds of stuff

I'll get better pics later, overall i am thinking of getting OME 881 because i have bumper. Front has settled about .25" since 2 weeks ago.

When i had the 99 tall on 3rd setting on tundra 5100 my hub to bottom of LTD flares were 22.3/4" passenger, 22.5/8" driver, but keep in mind i do have an ARB bumper too, so that will drop it .5" also. Ride was not harsh and firmer than my busted stock.

Since then, i have switch to OME 883 and on the bottom perch with tundra 5100 sitting at 23.3/4" both side front.

Update:

I have 3 3/8" of lift up front with OME 883 on 2nd perch. I had a bad front drive line vibrations @ 50+ mph.
Then i did a 1" diff drop and no more drive line vibrations and ride smooth as butter if anyone interested.

Correct. 4th from the bottom as in the one below the tallest. I don't have any hub measurements but its pretty close to level with the 906s in the rear...and I left the bump stop cones in the rear coils.

I want an extra 1" lift in the front to level out my 4r. I have the 99 highlander with the TJM bumper that adds 85lbs to the front. Originally was gonna go with top spacers but many suggested going with the 5100s. At which perch setting would I need to have it at to get that 1" lift?
