Tundra brake upgrade - question about 2000

Hi Guys,

I can get a good deal on 2000 Tundra brake calipers, as I want to do the brake upgrade for my 4runner.

I keep reading everywhere that they used 2001 Tundra calipers, are 2000 the same as the 2001 and will offer the same upgrade braking?

It boils down to what the casting number is on the caliper, denoting whether the truck has the original 199mm sized brakes (casting 13WE) or the uprated 231mm. My understanding was that certain trucks were eligible for a TSB where they received the uprated ones. As long as those are the original brakes that the trucked rolled off the factory floor with, you should be in the clear.

IIRC you want the 2nd gen Tundra calipers. 13WL/13WG. I believe that's around '05 & up model years. That's assuming you want to do the man size brakes (231 mm) -

Like 96LTDrus said, just check the calipers for the casting numbers. 13WL is what you want, the biggest one. I have the 231mm brakes and can say it was one of the best upgrades I have done. Truck stops smooth and much shorter distance now. Stock rotors warp way too easily.

I had actually inferred that OP wanted the 'easier' bolt on 199mm brakes. That's what I have on mine. Brembo blank rotors and OE Advics pads, I've been very pleased.

Oh? Try it before you knock it. Perfectly functional, and no worries about OE wheel clearance or anything like that (I have split spoke 16s)
