who has rebuilt their calipers? i bought napa products for my upgrade when i did it years ago and have gone through 3 sets because they keep seizing on one side or the other. i may just get a used set and overhaul them and use them instead. who has the part numbers for the kits? i remember seeing a post with photos but don't remember who's it is.

I used the Napa Eclipse calipers, 231 version. I have not had any issues so far. I have had them on almost exactly one year. What Napa calipers did you go with? I know that they had a few options available.

I rebuilt my 199 calipers. They both were binding although not at the same time. You have to take out the caliper pistons to rebuild them. Getting them out if they are binding is a little bit of a pain. I believe there is a tool for this which if you don't have you have to get creative to get them out. Anyways, once you get the piston out, the problem is pretty evident. The outer ridge where the outer lip seal covers gets corroded and causes the the piston to bind. You have to clean them up (emery cloth, honing tool) I then painted them all the way to the edge of the bore. I believe this stops the "creeping" of the corrosion into the bore where the piston moves. I then used the OEM kit part #s posted above for the 199 calipers. I also used new OEM pistons. Put the pistons in with the provided lube and seals in the OEM kit and the pistons should be move smoothly.

is this one side per kit or both sides? what about part numbers for pistons? there was someone that posted pics during their rebuild process but don't remember who it was nor can i find it. anyone know it was/is?

i'm on board with this post as well. I have the rebuild kits and extra pistons already.....my drivers side is seizing....at what point do you make the determination that it's beyond rebuildable? i guess if the bore is all marred up from gunk and debris?

they're definitely seizing because of the corrosion on the outer lips
 
I've had those calipers for 2.5 years, 65k miles on mine and no issues. Not sure why you're having so many problems with yours OP.
 
i believe it is for a pair of calipers. after clicking on the links above, you can see the replacement pistons when you scroll down, lower left.

231mm calipers: 47731-0C020

199mm calipers: 47731-35040

looking to do the 199mm tundra caliper upgrade asap, but i cant seem to decide if i want advancedauto eclipse, duralast, acdelco, or oem. anyone have recommendations on which is the best quality or where i can find oem re manufactured to save some money? seeing as op is having issues with his id think i want to stick with oem, except its like $400+ each for new ones.

I rebuilt a pair of Sequoia 231's that I got from the local yard using the Toyota caliper rebuild kit. The pistons looked uniform in finish so I reused them. The rotors on the donor truck micro’ed out so I picked them up too.
The calipers had 1 frozen piston on one of the caliper so I had to polished the corrosion off the piston and honed all the piston bores to a uniform finish.
They have been trouble free for 21k miles so far. I just did a Toyota pad change 7K miles ago and looked over the caliper and all is good. Im in the TBU for $100, plus $12 for the reseal kit.
