I brought the spare driveshaft over to a shop close by work to have them press a new u joint into the slip-yoke.
The service writer spent almost 20 minutes looking up how to write the ticket and eventually gave up and said "$30 labor, no parts because you brought the replacement u-joint with you". I said "sold."
About 3 hrs later, the service manager calls and says "alldata says I need to charge you 1.5hrs labor to do that one u-joint."
I told him alldata's numbers include R&R, and as I came by part in hand, R&R isn't required. He said "it doesn't matter, that's what we have to charge you." I said "have you started the work yet?" he said "nope" I said "don't, I'll be over in 20 min to get it."
They must really have not wanted to do a u-joint.
Time to break out the BFH I guess.
