U turn on 4WD H4

Every time we use our rigs they get more wear and tear, from the door hinges and seat cushions to the bearings in the motor and the gears in the differentials. Taking tight turns on high traction surfaces in 4HI/4LO increases wear, in an extreme instance it could actually break something. That said, many of us put far more stress on driveline, tires, and suspension components on relatively easy trails.

Try to avoid it, and keep your foot off the gas if you feel it start to bind.

I see thank you for explaining. I know of 2lo for tight trails but are you saying on high traction rocks making tight turns 4wd should be disengaged? Just curious and thanks for the insight

you might find that in 4lo or 4hi you will actually come to a complete stop when making a tight turn on rocks or even dirt roads with enough traction and may have to make a multi-point turn instead or give it enough gas to spin tires and unbind things. theres no right or wrong answer, it depends on the conditions, i think usually most people would deal with the longer turning radius from 4wd but there are probably occasions when you'd want to swap into 2wd for a second for a tight maneuver. (for example i know i change into 2wd a lot of times during winter weather when i'm maneuvering in tight parking lots because otherwise it turns like a boat)
