Under cowl snorkel?

For those of you who aren't on TW thought this was really cool and I'd share it over here.

Not sure how it would work on a 4th gen, especially a v8. But a pretty cost effective solution and maybe a little quieter than the internal snorkel - sorry [MENTION=65653]aha2988[/MENTION] :wink2:

lol i don't think that is going to provide much snorkeling, it doesn't raise the height of the intake any. but it would help the bow wave syndrome. to each there on. of course my internal snorkel lowers the intake height just keeps it away from water though.

Its not really a snorkel and I'd be a little concerned about water from rain and such since it collects naturally in the cowl area?

This is more what I was thinking - it would prevent water from coming up through the fender liner, especially useful for those with aftermarket bumpers that dont have as much protection from where the intake is sucking up the water. I definitely feel like it is a safer location than stock, no?

I was thinking that too, but i think that's what the white plate thing is for :noidea:

I know it is a fairly common thing to do on wranglers. I haven't heard of anyone having issues. I realize it is a different platform.

Snorkel? Not really, CAI? No more than stock, but the OP said he did it to gain room for his compressor under the hood, and it clearly helped. I agree with above, what do you do when parked with vehicle running in a downpour? O, I know, you suck in a few OZs of water. A few drain holes may help.

Not a bad idea, just perhaps not thought real well through.

I might give this mod a shot. I have some ideas on how to improve it a little, especially in rain, but I need to take the cowl off a do some measuring first. If I do this, I will definitely post here and TW.
