Just wondering what guys are using to paint/undercoat the frame and running gear to make things look new again?

Are you thinking of this rubberized one, or a different one?

I'm using eastwood products. Also Line-X sells the stuff they use as an undercoating

por-15 , wont peel off like rubberized undercoat .

I undercoated my entire frame with POR15 too.

A LOT of work, but so far so good. 27.5 hours under the truck, with only 4 hours of sleep (in two intervals of 2hrs).

Just be warned that mine dried way faster than what it leads you to believe. And we have a dry climate.

How were you applying it and how has it held up so far?? I am gonna be doing my underbody this summer.

Brush.

They say to use the cheapest brushes you can find. I don't recommend that. I didn't use the foam ones, but I had some ultra cheap ones and they were terrible. Ended up using decent grade ones with great results.

Holding up quite well. I'll see come spring and maybe take some pictures. It hasn't seen a ton of road salt thankfully but it has seen quite a bit of gravel roads. My tires throw up a ton of rocks.

por-15 works really well but its all about the prep , kit comes with a degreaser and a metal prep , use both . gets hard like steel and wont scratch , pic of my rear i sand blasted and painted with por 15

Yes this. It's been weeks and weeks and its as good as new. Cheap too. Used quite a bit though

POR 15 is great. It applies very thin, almost like ink. I have not done this to the Runner but I POR 15ed my old truck then undercoated it. POR15 also breaks down in sunlight or UV so it needs to be overcoated if exposed.

I had my truck undercoated 2 years ago by Line-X. Still looks as good as new...lifetime warranty...free re-coating anytime. Cost me $350...well worth the money...IMHO. If you ever worked with undercoating before...wow, that's some nasty stuff. Not a fun project!

I'm going to have my T4R done this spring.

I prepped mine with a flap disk on a grinder and then used an oil based Rustoleom. Brushed it on, turned out great.

Not true , color will fade if exposed to uv light but it does not break down .
