Quick intro about my job: I photograph new and used cars for a chain of dealerships and help manage their websites/online inventory. Ok, so last week at our Bentley store we had the 2002 Bentley Speed 8 Le Mans winning race car. The car was on tour until it reached its final resting at a museum in England. The cool thing was they let me sit inside it, which sadly I did not fit very well at 6'4"
Now this week, today actually, I received an email from theThrottle.com (sister website of the famous theChive.com) that they are putting up some photos I submitted awhile back and quick profile. So, what are your unique/awesome/crazy stores at work?

i was an EMT for a few years, don't get me started.
I was a legal investigator for a while too. Don't get me started.

Now i'm a professional student...

I work at a smaller sized private college...summer and spring provide very nice views. All my buddies get kind of jealous when they swing by.

EMT for the last six years, Worked at the same time in the outdoor industry as a guide for a wilderness thearpy program... talk about some strange times
Currently teach Wilderness medicine courses, WFR's ( wilderness first responder) and WEMTs

I make machines move. Hydraulic systems engineer for a long time. Oh, for the past 21 years I helped raise two kids to adulthood without any jail time, pregnancy, and they appear well nourished and healthy with minimal injury. Both are in college studying for degrees that will make them productive members of society as a Nurse and Engineer. I think I win.

Army EOD (Bomb Tech) for 20yr and now teach LEOs the trade.

I make toothpicks out of logs. Most gratifying work if you can get. once upon i time i had a company that made clam bubblegum, but it just did not take off. Then i moved on to manufacturing talcum powder for african americans, my product was called Malcolm powder, again, it just did not take off. After college, i tried my hat at being a trial lawyer, but my terrets seemed to hinder my career, so i moved on to manufacturer plus size bikinis but i could not afford a big enough warehouse. One out of a hundred i tell you.
Move along, nothing to see here. walk the cat and turn out the light.

I repaired wrecked cars. Well actually I document all the damage and supervise the technicians. It's a pretty interesting job. It has it's ups and downs. Some people are really nice and realize I am just there to help them get back on the road, while others act like I am trying to rip them off and I couldn't care less about them or their car. I can assure you that I care a lot more than the average person in my profession.

I worked on oil rigs doing Geo consulting/logging. Went and worded a rig down in texas and found out the only person on the rig site not on parole was me. 2 for attempted murder at that. It was an old rig that actually still used a manual hand brake and I asked the driller why they painted a red circle around where he stands and he said that's not paint it's blood. He had lung cancer and had been spitting up blood there for the past 3 years. Second night on site we were infested with black crickets. It was ridiculous. Millions of crickets. They were almost knee deep around the diesel tanks (dead). Now I make sure what comes out of the stacks at the power plant is EPA compliant.

My previous job was a supervisor at private aviation FBO, fueling and handling private, corporate and military aircraft.

I did special events planning for the American Motorcyclist Association for a number of years and have way too many cool stories about that job to write down but one of my favorites...

In 2008 BMW was introducing the new R1200GS and R1200GSA (Adventure model) and all the moto journalists were out covering other events and there wasn't anyone in the department who could ride well off road anyways so they sent ME to go on the press intro, hell yeah!

BMW sent a limo to my house and flew me first class to Scottsdale, AZ for a weekend to preview both bikes along with another 12 moto journalists from other magazines, etc. They put us up in some five star resort, every meal was fine dining, etc. They had dozens of the GS1200's for us to ride and Saturday was a guided day long street adventure and Sunday was the day long guided off road ride. Along the ride route they had all these activities and pit stops. Somewhere along the ride in the middle of no where there was even a pit stop where the portapotty was a trailer with marble floor and water on tap in it, crazy. They spare no expense it pampering you, obviously because they want you to write good things about their bikes.

Sunday was amazing though, that R1200GSA even being a 500lb beast of a bike could handle it's own offroad no problem. I quickly broke away from the pack and me and one of the ride leaders chased each other all day being the best and most competent riders. At one point I even got the GS airborne (a mega feat for that giant bike) and when I landed I bottomed out and tore off the kick stand sensor so the bike wouldn't start. I took out my knife and hard wired the dangling wires to get the bike to start.

We had lunch on a paddle boat in a canyon lake, and that afternoon we had a ride stop where we shot skeet (which I found out I'm really good at and need to take that up as a hobby!) for an hour, etc. Totally phenomenal experience. If I could do it all over I'd be a moto journalist.
