Upgrading Suspension Pricing or TRD PRO?

Please don't do the PRO grill thing. It's really played out by now. The dealers around here all slap TRD wheels and PRO grills on the new SR5s so 75% of the "PROs" that I see are actually just funny looking brand new SR5s.

And your Trail/OR wheels are about as good as it gets. Machined aluminum that hides scratches well, 7.5"wide, and an awesome valve stem protector. The TRD wheels are functionally way worse in comparison.

I am actually tempted to pull my Pro grill off and just do the black out emblem instead. I agree that it is getting played out. I actually regret adding the Pro cosmetics as I now want different wheels as well.

At this point I appreciate seeing a 4Runner that doesn't have any visual type modifications. I feel like the only types I see these days are either totally stock down to the tires, or they have blacked out emblems, dark tinted windows, yellow film on the fog lights, and black wheels.

I recently saw a 4R that was totally stock except for what looked like a full 2-3" lift (new shocks and springs, maybe OME) and larger KO2s on stock wheels with white letters out. I wanted to go shake the guys hand and thank him for being different by not trying to be different.

Luckily where I am, most are still stock, a few modded but not many. I do get stares in mine as there are like 3 or 4 Pro's total around. I think black wheels just look good and will probably still go black for my next set. The black out emblems I think add a nice touch since there are not many chrome accents on the non-limited models. I even decided to go with the teal dobinson springs to be different.

I like them all but yes I agree about the PRO grill thing. I mean it looks nice but every one seems to be doing it. I never did it cuz I could not justify spending $400 plus for plastic that added no function at all. I did black out the chrome though cuz I am not a chrome person. With the silver the blacked out emblems just look cleaner imo.

SSHHHHHHH.....this is my build plan exactly. I even left my TRD Off Road emblems on. And I NEVER leave emblems on.

You're either leaving your normal emblems on and doing some sweet functional mods... or you're leaving your normal emblems on so you can plastidip them black after you plastidip your grille in lieu of a real TRD PRO garnish.

Only way I would suggest to get a new vehicle is if you had a 2wd.

I'm going for function. Think of a "sleeper" for the trails. Looks almost completely stock but works really really well.

At least that is the goal.
