Hey everyone, I hope I am posting this the right way and everything. If I’m not ,I’m sure you guys will lead me the right way. I have a 96 supercharged ( grey ) 4runner limited with Urd 7th injector, urd 2.2 pulley, urd dynamic tensioner pulley, URD 02 sensor calibrator, AEM wideband, autometer phantom series boost gauge and Lotek 2 gauge pod. I live in Denver and my truck runs out great at 217,000 miles. I have yet to hear a single ping or knock. I love my truck. So on to the “ mod “( if it even counts haha, this is a big deal to me to share something I have not seen done yet). So if it were not for my wideband and the feel of the engine, I honestly had no idea the 7th injector was working( spraying fuel) or even when it was working. I have always thought the little green status light included in the AEM v2 water/methanol kit was really cool and informative. I got thinking that I want that for my 7th injector. It would let me know when my 7th injector was spraying fuel as well as when I crossed over into open loop. FYI I have the older URD unit without the closed loop boost enrichment built in( obviously because I have the URD 02 sensor calibrator). I went ahead and ordered the exact little green indicator light from AEM. I bought two for like 12$ shipped. I received them and opened up the package to see what we were dealing with.I do all my own work on my truck just like you guys do but give me a computer and I’m scratching my head haha. I can only show my pictures as attachments. They will be in order as this post goes on. So I got the light and as you can see it’s a small green light with a red and a white wire coming out the back. Now, in My URD 7th injector kit, the two wires ( one red and one white ) that run from the 7th injector from under my hood into the cab and connect to the URD PCU. Those are the wires we will be working with. I chose to splice the AEM green light wires to the 7th behind my glove box.So now I know where I wanted to tie into the 7th, I needed to decide where the light was going. As stated before I have the lotek 2 gauge pod and decided to put the light next to the wideband on the lotek gauge pod as seen in the pictures. I purchased black 18 gauge wire from Napa for like 7$. I used a wire clothes hanger ( I put a decent amount of tape on the end to cover any sharp and abrasive points on the hanger) and fished it down the A-Pillar and under the lower steering wheel dash and to the back of the glove compartment. Now get your wire and cut two pieces with plenty of length so you have plenty of wire to fish through. On one of the wires I put green tape at each end so there is no confusion as to which wire is which, because it does matter. Tape the ends of both wires to the clothes hanger you fished through and pull your wires through, if you hit a snag, don’t just yank it harder, find out why it’s stuck. You could damage the wires or something else and not even know it. So now your wires are dead through where you want them. Tie the wire with the green tape on it to the red wire ON THE AEM GREEN STATUS LIGHT AND TIE THE NONE TAPED WIRE TO THE WHITE WIRE ON THE AEM GREEN STATUS LIGHT. Now we move to the 7th injector end of the wiring. PAY ATTENTION TO THIS PART. TAP THE WIRE WITH THE GREEN TAPE ON THE END TO THE WHITE 7th INJECTOR WIRE AND TAP THE OTHER WIRE TO THE RED 7th INJECTOR WIRE. So it’s not color to color. Go ahead and zip tie any loose or dangling wire out of harms way. Now when your 7th injector starts spraying, the green indicator light will light up and when it stops it will turn off. I really like it a lot. I have always liked it on the AEM METHANOL kit. So anyway, just something fun to do and also a little indication that things are working when they are suppose to. This DIY mod is for informational knowledge only. I take no responsibility for what you do with it.
