US Offroading Trails and Clubs (PLEASE Add!)

What: Add your local trails and clubs to the map
When: Now

WHY: To aide in finding nearby clubs in which to go on trail rides to.

Disclaimer: Do not wheel ALONE. Ride with a club/group when applicable. Protect and respect the trails so that they will LAST.

I'm looking for some volunteers to help me build out THE TRAILS MAP with all the LEGAL trails in the USA.

Regional Trail Experts:
These people either live or know the area well and are willing to answer your questions or would be interested in a area meetup.

WHY?
No one should wheel alone. Still, it's not easy to locate all the trails or know of what clubs exist nearby where you live. This is what the Trail & Club map is for: finding and/or organizing local group rides.

The Map?
Google Maps is only limited to to 300 Waypoints, I'm pretty sure there are more than 300 trails and clubs combined in the US. Once we get to that point I plan to switch the data over to another service such as MapBox. Due to this limitation please only use one marker/line per trail. Utilize the description field to indicate where it may begin/end.

Rules:
  • LEGAL TRAILS ONLY
  • Clubs can be approximate to meeting spot as long as you link to their website for more information.
  • Place one marker/line per trail**
  • Kudos if you draw in the trail itself!**
  • Rename and add a helpful description or link to website for more info
  • No ATV-only or Dirtbike-only Trails (why waste our time?)
  • If a trail doesn't have a good mix of beginner/intermediate/advanced and is mostly advanced, indicate as such.
  • After submitting a new trail reply to the thread. If you indicated you live in the area I'll add you to the list above to help make meetups happen.

**You can place the marker at the beginning OR end of the trail as long as it can be entered at that location. Please don't mark both entrance and exit, rather, use the Line tool. We do not need to draw the lines on the map if you can find a trail map at the entrance (offroad parks/areas).

Tried to add Richland rd in western NC, but can not figure out how to add with the link provided.
And just an FYI callaentee in Eastern TN has been shut down for awhile now.

Got it figured out. Are we adding just trails and NF trails or are offroad parks included? There is a few in NC/VA that can be added.

I went ahead and added a fun trail I know of in southwestern Idaho. I plan to do quite a bit of exploring this summer so I will add more as I come across them .

We are adding off road parks too I believe. Just as long as its legal and fun for everyone and if its advanced say it is so beginners don't try to go do it. It's all about making a map to let people know where they can go to have fun and test their trucks
 
Added the only trail I have been on so far with my new 4Runner I just got last month, Hone Quarry Rd in GW National Forest in Virginia. Will add more as I run them if they have not already been added. This is a great idea, I will definitely be making use of it being that I am new to off-roading outside of hunting on private land in WV.
 
Thanks for everyone's submissions so far. I agree on off road parks. If it's off the general path, allows trucks, and is legal let's add it!

As I browse the forums and come across someone talking about a trail I will be adding it. I'm currently trying to decipher the 200 mile trail that is Modoc in Cali. Not all the roads are on google maps!
Which reminds me, you can draw lines too (for trails) if the area can be used to get travelling from one place to another. I don't think we need to add the trails per line (unless you want to!) if it's an enclosed park.

It's not easy (especially for a newbie) to locate all the trails near where you live. Also, if you are on a road trip, or planning one, you can easily locate a trail near you for some wheelin' fun.

I respectfully suggest that a noob should not be out wheeling by themselves based on information they got from a random website.

New wheelers should be hooking up with local clubs for their first adventures. That's how they learn what their truck is capable off, that's how they learn to Tread Lightly, that's how they learn how not to get in over their heads and how not to get our trails closed. And that's how they learn where the trails are - the local clubs always know.

I've never wheeled east of Colorado - I get the impression that most wheeling back east is had on land dedicated to wheeling, with lots of traffic and well established trails. That's not the case here out west - here, 99.9% of wheeling is done on BLM/Forest Service land or private property that isn't dedicated to wheelers, and it's very easy for offroaders that don't know or don't care to get access to trails shut down for everybody. I don't ever tell people where to wheel or how to find a specific trail, but I'm always happy to show them. What if you focused your efforts on documenting active local clubs in each area instead? Hit them up every six months or so just to make sure they're still there and your list is current. Less work for you, and a much better chance that new wheelers will be taught safety and taught respect for our access rights, no?

Kid v I respect you as a member and as a fellow off roader but I know that not always are there people around you to hook up with. I'm on 4or5 forums to try to get more people to off road and there's no one. It can be really hard to find people to off road with you. But I also agree that noobs shouldn't be out there by themselves and that in reality no one should be by themselves.

I have edited the original post to include the prior two post's suggestions. Great points both.

Everyone please start dropping a pin on the location of Clubs/Groups in your city with a valid URL for more information. Locations can be approximated.
