Hey guys,

So I have a ship date in August for Structural Engineering. If there is any of ya'll currently in the AF or vets, I wanted to get a little bit of an experience from ya'll... I know what the job entails, and I'm excited to start.. I just was wondering about any do's/don'ts anf ya'lls experiences in general?

More accurately called the Chair Force (zing!)

Enlisted I assume? Did not know they had a rating called structural engineering but I know near nothing about the AF.

yeah I know. I just heard the joke chair force last week on reddit (by an aF guy of course) and I LMAO pretty good.

I served my 6 Navy and I've seen the world.

Good luck and glad you decided to enlist :)

AF here, 18 years. CE Lineman. Getting ready to cross the pond very soon. You'll love the CE world as long as you're not thin skinned.. Being in CE is the best job IMO. You grab your work orders and tools. Jump in your truck and go to work. You'll never be behind a desk until you hit MSgt or in a chair as the previous poster mentioned.

Thanks for serving.

Awesome, glad to serve with you gentlemen. I have Navy buddies as well, lots of cool guys.

@ lineman, what all have you gotten to do, how long was tech school, & how hard was it all, etc.? I'm extremely curious, I've waited since summer for this job, so I'm excited to go, just wondering what details I'm getting into. Heard CE guys are fun.

After my last two friends went through BMT and were on Facebook and texting their friends and family every weekend I have a hard time taking the USAF serious. The military isn't what it used to be sadly...

When I was in boot camp Sunday was training day just like any other day. Sorry but cell phones and **** don't belong in basic training.

Completely agree. Remember though, now-a-days you have kids still suckin their momma's left one that everyone including my generation started to become chicken **** kids who can't even multiply 2x2 anymore... So, agreed. highly.

thats not a bash against the USAF per say either, it goes for all branches that i have recently seen. save for the Corps but i have heard rumors theyre getting pretty relaxed compared to what it used to be and are given some luxuries.

Yep I know what you mean, it is true. Like I said, a lot of these kids & my generation are too scared to delatch from their momma's tit, & think 2x2 = 5 .... Sooooo... Lol.

But the Corps is still the whoop-your-ass type, but I couldn't join due to skoliosis (spellcheck sorry, still half asleep).. Besides, I like the CE job I'm getting haha.
