Using factory trail e-locker on LE?

Yeah I'm juiced! Should be taking it out tonight and shipping tmrw. I've heard the wheel in the air thing. I'm not a crawler so that shouldn't affect me too much. Plus Ive heard you can tug the e brake a little and get it to catch the other tire. I noticed on my last trip I was just rutting out a lot and one tire was digging in. Felt like if that happens with the TT it would lock up and transfer power so both spin and push it up and over.

ATRAC essentially does the e-brake thing for you so that shouldn't be an issue. I would think the systems would work well together.

One of the cool things about using Zuk is that he builds an entire webpage with a ton of pictures for every install. You don't have to trust that someone got a good pattern out of it - you can see for yourself.

Well I don't want to ruin his rep or get your hopes up/down based on what he has to do for you...

But I will say for mine to be installed with all new bearings, AND paying for the TT unit (which is upwards of $500) it's around $1,100, with return shipping. He may quote you differently so don't take this as gospel. Shoot him an email to confirm.

Shipping for me, from northern CA to AZ where he is is only about $70.

Again, email him. He's no joke honest and knowledgeable.

One build he did was on a new tundra HUGE 3rd member. He knows his stuff

Did you get your rear diff back with the True Trac installed? How does the True Trac work with ATRAC? I am in the same boat as you with the SR5 and I am looking at different solutions. I live in Roseville.

Better Wet/Snow Traction

4Reak Show I'd be interested in hearing how the Truetrac install went too if you did it?

I was thinking of ways to improve the performance of the 4Runner during normal driving conditions on slippery surfaces like wet or snow covered roads (where we can't use Atrac). I find relying only on the Trac and VSC aids quite annoying as they just cut too much power, sometimes adding a bit too much drama to a merging scenario.

Assuming appropriate tires are installed: A) Can we install a Truetrac in the rear of a 5th gen (most searches just bring up 3rd and 4th gen 4Runners)? and B) How well would it work in the above scenarios?

When I originally chimed in on this I was more so giving options for installs and rough pricing regarding the truetrac install. I also F'd up and didn't read that this was for the later model 4runners... So my opinion won't mean much to you newer Gen guys.

That being said, the TrueTrac is pretty rad coming from what was just an open diff without any aides whatsoever.

Otherwise, I can't help much. Sorry.

The Truetrac would be nice, but after various emails to different companies, the closest thing that I've gotten to anything other than an ARB air-locker for the 5th Gens is that Torq-Masters may begin to prototype an Aussie
locker towards the end of the year. It would be nice to have a cost effective alternative out there. Hope that helps!

Interesting. It's more information than I had before. Thanks for sharing.
