V6 Oil consumption? This can't be normal.

I've had my 2008 4runner for about 5 years and I've put on about 100k miles. It's almost at 200k right now. I always do the oil changes myself every 5k miles. I usually dump the old oil in a empty windshield washer jug. Today I changed my oil but I had to dump the old oil into the old quart containers. To my surprise I was only able to fill about 3 bottles.I know there's some oil left in the filter and some that drips out when the filter gets removed, but 2 quarts short seems very concerning.

Check your PCV too.

Only way to tell for sure is to monitor your oil using the dipstick. Most times the quart bottles are not filled to the brim anyways... You may be overfilling your empty containers which could affect your numbers...

I've had a concern regarding consumption too as most do not report any oil consumption on the 4th gen. I lose about .5-.75 of a quart per 5k miles. It seems to be lost by about 3k miles then it stays steady. I have a 2007 with 113k miles and it's been like this since I got it about 15k miles ago.

The only oil mine consumes at 137k is the leak past the main seal. Which sucks.

how much do you lose?

My mechanic told me there were no leaks so I assume mine is getting passed the rings and getting burned up
