V8 4th gen vs. supercharged 3rd gen

Am I missing something on this? I thought all V8s had the 5-speed auto tranny. My '04 sure does.

My supercharged 01 on 33's will still absolutely smoke a stocker on stock tires. I drive it at elevations sometimes above 14000' and it does really well loaded with camping gear. That being said, SC's are harder on the motor, and if I could trade my rig for a 4th gen V8 with the same mods, (and not spend a sh!t-ton doing it) Id do it in a heartbeat.
If you decide on the SC though, you wont believe the difference. Its huge! But cruising highway/mtn passes I think theres just isnt the low end torque of a v8 unless your stepping in it.

Correct you are.. The only one that changed was the V6 4th gen.

Haha, ok, well where did [MENTION=96765]Illestreker[/MENTION] get different numbers then? How did he calculate those if there's no such thing as a 4-speed 4th gen V8? I'm just curious.

I did make some mistakes on the numbers when I originally posted them. I was reading off the information quickly and translated the info incorrectly about the 4 speed and 5 speed auto trans. CORRECT 5 speed auto in ALL V8 models.
As for the HP and TQ numbers between the non VVT-i and VVT-i engines I pulled that info off wiki. But later I did read somewhere they they changed the way that the numbers were calculated so my numbers for the VVT-i engine seem to be wrong.

4.7 L 2UZ-FE engine which in the US produced 235 hp (175 kW) and 320 lb·ft (434 N·m) in 2003 and 2004,[clarification needed] then, with the addition of VVT-i, 260 hp (194 kW) and 306 lb·ft (415 N·m) from 2005-2009.
The correct numbers are 270hp and 330tq

Do you have any upgrades like 7th injector and smaller pulley or just the supercharger?

I honestly dont know. Thats the one upgrade that was done before I bought it

well if your pulley on the supercharger is red then its upgraded... and if you have some tapped wiring into the ecu and have a small black box for tuning you have the urd 7th injector kit. If not, then well its all stock setup.

Superchargers are fun, but they do decrease longevity by stressing components. It is a trade off, sure.
Also, sc tend to augment mid to high rpm, where they "kick" in. V8's are the torque man's stop if choice bc they hit torque so dang low. That is really helpful towing up a hill. You don't need to be at the floor, 4 k, to haul.
I have to vote V8. I tow a heavy 22 foot sailboat (heavy lead keel to keep it upright) and the V8 just purrs. I also have Nissan V6 which is comparable to the Toyota V6 and it is hilarious how horrible that is. I tried to tow it, once, to the ramp when the wife had the runner. I will never, ever do that again. I live in the mountains, and it was just comical how bad it was.
