Vail, Co, off-roading hopes

Whats happenin y'all, cant wait to go home(Camp Pendleton to Denver) for the fourth! I was planning on oing ff road at least once while im there and didnt really know what was a decent trail to conquer. I was thinkin about Democrat mountain(no pun intended) or the like areas like Saxon or Bard creek. Anyone have any ideas?

dont know what kind of rig you're working with but check out traildamage.com they have pretty good write ups on trails and difficulty settings as well. you can search county by county and see what you like. San Miguel has some good ones, check: Black Bear, Scotch Creek, Engineer Pass, Imogene Pass, too many to list.

if you come through Telluride, i know its off the highway a bit, ill buy you a beer and point you in the right direction.

hey there Snarf. I'm not stranger to Hinsdale county, I been going to Lake city ever since I can remember; my grand folks have had a cabin there for decades. My chariot is a stock 5th gen limited, all I done so far is put on a magnaflow and an aftermarket airfilter; however without both I had no trouble climbing over Engineer pass. I absolutley love the Uncompahgre wilderness, most beautiful spot on the good Lords green earth in my book.
Yesterday I soent a while goin through Traildamage.com and found a few not too far from Denver, Saxon mountain and Democrat are probably my targets; do you have any knowledge about these bad boys?

unfortunately i have not ventured that far as of yet so i cannot give you any first hand experience on those.

the lady and i are headed up to Denver this weekend if we have time we might jump off road but its looking unlikely.

I hear ya, I am makin a special day out of the only free morning I have back home, which is freedom day its self. Go conquer the mountain then be back in time for a burrito and some fire water/works. They say Saxon will jar your teeth out so I might find an easier mountain
