Valances: Pro black vs. TRD Off Road silver

Can anyone confirm that the Toyota black valances (parts #53901-35250 and 52169-35120) can be installed on a TRD Off Road without any drilling...just remove the silver valances and install the black?

I ask this because I'm getting ready to buy a 2019. When I put it out for bids to several dealers, I plan to specify that they remove the new silver valances, put them back in stock, and install the black valances. Seems to me this really isn't that different from swapping out wheels and tires on a new vehicle, which is pretty common, assuming of course that there is no drilling or other mods needed.

I just plasti-dipped mine and they are holding up good. I run it through the carwash bout twice a week. They were done in March and still look the same.

Since 2010, they are literally all the same truck.

You should be able to verify via an OE Part finder.

Apart from some electrical/wiring differences across trims and the 5.5 refresh gauge assembly/dash color/info screen/entune, you can exchange any part on any year 2010 on.

The valence your looking at, I could be wrong, it would surprise me that they would change assembly tooling for something like that.

It’s just a bunch of clips you remove and swap the pieces out. I did mine the week after I bought it.

Not free, I just want them to include that in the total price they quote. That way I can choose what I consider the best package deal.

Gotcha.

If that's the case, you're probably better off just buying and installing yourself, especially with those eBay % off coupons going around all the time. Front is easy-peazy; rear takes a little bit longer.

Removing the valance requires taking off the front bumper, the clips are tough to get to otherwise. Plastidip is way easier, cheaper, and looks decent. It took me 3 tries to get it perfect, I recommend watching some youtube. I'd plastdip before dropping down the money for Pro valance. I'm like through 10 car washes, some with spinning things, no issues.

Also, I think flat black looks better, but you can do gloss layers with platsidip to make it look like Pro. But if the dealer will do it, I'm sure they'll charge you arm and a leg for it, go for it. TRD Pro rims would be a better choice, although I'm a huge fan of OR/Trail wheels.

This will literally never happen, we're not in the 60s anymore where this was a possibility. You'll pay full retail for the 2 new black valances along with whatever labor costs to swap them out. They will give you $0.00 credit for the original silver ones as they can't stock and resell them, doesn't work that way. Pay for the new ones plus labor, take the originals and sell them. The silver ones are worth $150-$200 for the pair. Ah and no they will absolutely not swap wheels and tires either. Wheel packages are model specific, you get what it came with unless you want to again buy new wheels at full retail, pay labor to swap them, and get $0.00 credit for your stock wheels.

I just wanted to know if the black for silver swap was a one hour job. Worst case, I just buy the black ones online and pay a local body shop an hour’s labor and toss the silver ones. No biggie.

A can of plastidip costs less than the shop labor to r&i the valance. There’s also the option of getting it vinyl wrapped.

Recently purchases the 2020 TRD ORP - but I cannot stand the silver valances on the front and rear bumper.

Seems to be a mixed review of doing Plasti-Dip vs. Buying the black TRD Pro valances.

I think I'm leaning towards the plasti-dip and if I don't like it I'll buy the new valances for closer to $400.

I vinyl wrapped mine in matte black. It was fun, and I'm glad I did it, but next time I'll just plasti-dip. I previously plasti-dipped my rear tailgate and the silver roof racks in black, and those are holding up nicely. Thinking of doing my flares next.

I am currently trying to decide between, vinyl, plasti & spray paint. Why would you do plasti dip over vinyl? My concern is the plasti doesn't clean very well.
