True, timing belts are age OR mileage, whichever comes first. I changed my brother in laws timing belt in his 2001 ES300 with 25,000 miles 2 years ago. Recommended interval is 90k or 9 years IIRC.

The value would be super high if these were collectible or rare like a muscle car/limited production vehicle.
Me personally, 30k miles or 300k miles. It's gonna serve the same purpose. I can't see buying one for 25k when I can buy 6 of them for 4k each that do the same thing? Just the wrong vehicle to expect that kinda return based off mileage I think.
The average person looking for a 3rd gen 4runner doubtfully wants to pay that kinda cash over turning a couple wrenches themself and holding onto 15k+.

Honestly though, I would rather buy a nice 7k 4Runner and spend 10k fixing it up....if I wasn't broke that is and could throw cash around on used trucks.

I have to laugh at some guys that believe their 4runner is priceless at over 15 years old with low mileage. It's not a "beyond it's time" vehicle. It was a smaller economy SUV that was marketed here for soccer moms and families.
Why anyone would even offer them more than 14-15k is beyond me. You can get a much newer model, with more modern equipment for the same if not less than what some people are asking.

Yeah you're right. While the RAV4 was definitely in the economy CUV market, maybe not so much the economy SUV (if their even was one) market...I'd compare the BMW or Infinity SUV models as the upper end models vs the 4runner.
Even with the limited options, the 4runner wasn't (isn't) necessarily a luxurious vehicle even with today's standards.
The same can't be said about the Lexus(Audi, BMW, etc.) for obvious reasons. Don't get me wrong the 4runner is a great vehicle and the Limited does have nice equipment, I just don't consider it luxurious.

I wasn't trying to compare the 3rd-gen 4Runner to present standards,just against the RAV4 that was released at that same era. Hell,the term CUV didn't even exist back then. As far as I know the only pre-2000 "luxury" SUVs were the Lexus LX450 and RX300 and Land Rovers (don't know the model names).
