value of engine in my 1989

I have a 1989 4runner sitting in my back yard. It has a cracked frame so I have given up on it as a project as it is beyond my time and ability. Sadly as this is great truck and I hope to find another one soon.

I had someone stop by the other day and ask about buying it for the engine. I haven't been able to make it start, but I think it is in the electrical, or possibly the distributor. I can crank it by hand, so it isn't seized, but it won't turn over with the key.

I have brand new mud tires that have about 500kms on them, worth about $600 when I bought them 6 years ago. He would like the tires and wants the engine, any suggestions on what kind of price to ask? I was thinking of throwing $1000 and see what he says. I'd be happy to have him take it as we are moving soon so it will be one less thing to deal with, but I wanted to keep the tires, so I definitely want my value for the tires.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Me personally will not buy a used motor that i can't hear run unless dirt cheap or free. You can throw him a price and the worst he is going to do is counter offer.
