yep and check out the rust on the pinch weld. it's interesting about the gal frame but... yikes. somebody like liked that T4R. not just liked. like liked.

I'm starting to think there is a market for decent re-finished frames... hod dip them and epoxy spray with top coat. there is a lot of new parts on this truck. it's a nice looking truck. money comes, money goes.

I was interested in this truck except for the fact that seller could never produce the vin from the donor car. I am also quite amazed that BAT let this go since they are all about posting the carfax. What good is posting a clean carfax if the most important part of the car isn't even part of the listed carfax??

Plus...
  • Rusty brackets left on a "$14K" build
  • serious corrosion on left over parts
  • black paint covering floor pans
  • zero effort to detail under the hood
  • frame # was only partially readable.
  • Why galvanize vs paint the frame if seller intended to flip? I think the lighter color of galvanizing hides frame work better.
  • no detailed before pictures on an extensive rebuild
  • ton of rock auto boxes in the background on the video. Doubt any OEM parts were used, not that it's a terrible thing.
  • the shop that did the work looks like some side jobbers.

IMO, that car could easily had hit mid 20s had the seller presented the car better than actually assured potential higher bidders that the car was legit.

Yes, it's a ton of money, however, what can you buy today for $15-25K that is of the same caliber? I looked at similar mile rav4s with v6/awd and there is no comparison. The 3rd gen blows them away on everything except speed.

Had the frames of these and Tacomas held up better I imagine the value of these vehicles would not be nearly as high as they currently are. Even though it was a mass produced car, the clean versions are slim pickins which is driving up the cost. Plus, obviously, the fact that they are complete machines with almost zero maintenance.

everything works. How in the world do I know what this is worth? And where could I sell it? I live in South Texas, and I doubt people here would be terribly impressed with the Highlander edition. Thanks for the input!

Hey guys, I love the community here and 4Runners. Our family has a nice low mileage stock truck I'd like to sell. The only issue is in my local community market the truck isn't worth as much as some of you enthusiasts are willing to pay.

Yes I can easily look up what a fair price is using Edmunds or KBB, in fact Texas is full of 4Runners, but how do know what I could squeeze out in value if I find a buyer who is an true enthusiast?

You guys seem to love these trucks so much. Please arm me with data so can charge one of your members a "fair price" that is much much higher than the actual local vehicle prices in my area.

Hey fellas, I have been traveling with work a bunch and haven't had time to detail and post pics yet. But I certainly do appreciate how helpful the forum here has been. Yes, I know about Kelly blue book. I also know that it doesn't always do a great job of knowing what something is worth to an "enthusiast".

You are right in your assessment that I would like to get what my vehicle is worth when I sell it. It's always interesting posting on an Internet forum.... lots of folks willing to help and lots willing to post anonymous snarky comments.

Sheesh. Nobody HAS to purchase my vehicle. I haven't attempted to sell it yet. And I am just researching to figure out what it is worth. What's the problem?

I think it's a great idea to do as much research before selling anything, let alone your 4Runner. KBB prices can be a joke depending where you are. I looked up mine recently and in the best condition it was around $5-6k. I know for a fact that I could get over $10k for it here all day long.
