How would the galvanizing work? Wouldn't the whole frame need to be removed and hot dipped? Or is there another process?

Yup, nothing I would call rare. Toyota made a ton of these things, so it's not like there's exactly a shortage of them.

Still a 2000 with only 100,000 miles.

Good question, vehicle was in NE until one year ago, when I bought it back from a family member. I will get pics when able, but frame etc are in good shape. Thanks.

I think it's confusing rare with valuable which happens a lot. If you were to compare the production numbers, having a highlander/sport with a manual is in fact pretty rare. But that doesn't necessarily make it more valuable. For example a base 4-cyl with a manual is also very rare for a 3rd gen, but there's not many people who would ever pay a premium for that.
If it's clean, relatively low-miles and rust-free, that will net you the extra bump in price.

you can cold galvanize or hot dip things. think about it they have huge tanks for dipping things... road signs, bridge parts, and finding boat trailers in a hot dip galvanized is easy.
so the capacity is there to galvanize almost anything.
you would have to remove it for sure to hot dip it.
I have a frame siting out in my driveway waiting for a frame swap this next summer. I have been thinking about hot dipping it. probably run about $300-$500 to get it done. I have not decided exactly what I'm going to do with it yet for finish.

They pre-dip in a caustic solution. Sandblasting the outside will make a nicer looking finish.

Hey thanks for all the responses guys; I get that 3rd gen 4runners are common in your areas!
I also get that my highlander edition is not as desirable or rare as I had previously thought, according to a bunch of posts.
Any ideas on where to sell mine or what it may be worth are much appreciated.

Third Coast area has the demand with somewhat limited supply, Hurricanes got involved.
CL, FB, Cars.com, all good places to check local market value.

It is buyers responsibility to cover the auction fee (5% of the selling price) and the transport home.
I purchased an FJ60 on there in December, 1000 miles from home. I drove down there with a trailer and trailered it home. It was exactly as described.
The key to getting top dollar if selling or you spending your money if buying is knowing the product and how the seller represents it. BAT is pretty good about only representing decent, but hard to find cars. The questionable ones get sorted pretty quickly by the members since it's an open forum.
Since I was looking for an FJ60, that was my main focus on the site. Some clean ones popped up and some messed up ones showed up. It's pretty easy to spot the cars that need work so they usually don't sell for all that much. As a buyer, you need to know what you are looking for. If the seller can't answer questions posted by the forum or post pictures or videos asked for then usually they are hiding something and they don't sell for nearly as much.
In my case the seller had before photos (paint) and receipts for work done on thet ruck dating back 20 years and it was presented well. Once I got the truck, it was exactly as described and runs better than expected.
Being from the midwest we have slim pickins on clean cars. I must of looked a dozen different 4runner before getting my current one. They were all poor shape. But due to the nature of craigslist and autodealers you have to be present to view the car in person. With BAT, so many pictures are presented and you have a week of dialog with the seller plus the commentary of all the other members that it makes for a good place to purchase.
As a result, some stuff sells for good money there. Why? Because people like me are tired of wasting all my time looking at used cars that are junk. The last FJ I looked at looked decent on the photos, but once in person it was a joke. They cherry picked the 3 good panels and took the other ones from a distance so they looked ok. If this guy had posted 150 pictures like most of the cars on BAT have, it would had easily been recognized as just before I even got through half of them.
I threw a decent bid in on that one but I would be surprised if it hits the reserve which I think is probably close to 20K. If the seller can prove the frame is clean and straight from a non wrecked car, I think it should see some strong money. But right away I recognized some serious issues with the car like the cut floor boards and the rusty remaining pieces, corroded under engine/trans parts, etc. Why spend 15K on overhauling the truck and not remove a couple obviously bad looking pieces or detail the engine bay for top dollar? If seller can't sell the car by giving legitimate explanations then the car will not sell. Scammers are usually called out quickly on that site.

Can probably, easily fetch 8-9k in a private sale (but may take a little while to find the right enthusiast buyer with a good enough budget). BaT is another great selling resource, and would probably command more than $10k easy there (possibly reaching or even exceeding $14k) but so is this and the other 4runner forums.

I recently purchases a used 2000 4Runner "sport" V6 with 5 speed manual. Truck is in really good condition inside and out with 210k miles. I paid $6,500. This is way over blue book. I have seen the same truck on craigslist and people asking 9k - 14k. Blue book def doesn't apply here. I sold a 2008 Tacoma SR5 prerunner with 4 cyliner and manual tranny for $11,500 last year. This was wayyy over blue book
