Valve Cover Gasket issues

I changed my VC Gaskets, Pcv valve and grommet using this and other forums to follow good procedure and not have after problems. Now, after everything is together, I have problems, seemingly electrical. I say seemingly only because it may not be, because I am a novice with mechanical car stuff, but am truly unknowledgable with anything electric/electronic.

The car had no problems starting before, it would only stutter a bit at exactly 50mph, then if I gassed too hard over 50. Probably spark plugs being old? The leaky drivers VC was the reason for the repair.

It is not a fuse, I have gone through them.

When I turn the key fully to accessory, just before ignition, the dash lights up, as regularly, then from the back right area of the engine compartment I hear three audible clicks followed by a half second motor run sound, which in every other car Ive had is the oil pump getting things going for ignition.

When I turn the key to ignite, I get a very short sound like the car is trying to start, then everything goes out and I have to unhook the battery leads to reset. No grinding or evidence of anything seizing, audibly or by feel.

Really basic here but is your battery low on voltage? Did you go over all the electrical connections you disconnected when doing the VC gaskets?

I just did mine a couple weekends ago and it started right up, hope it's something simple for you.

Yes, everything is reconnected. Triple and quadruple checked that. Hoses are all routed correctly. Did you have trouble with crumbling and split hoses?

Video wont load, missing a certificate or some thing. Anyway after the ignition short, I hit the highbeam handle by accident and there is clicking sounds as I use the different settings down where the headlights are. Now I am confused because that means the power is still there, just not doing anything. Tried starting with lights on and all loses power as the previously mentioned motor run sound begins.

This thread is dead but let me use it to warn newer mechanics to ensure everything is tightened properly.
Why wouldnt my car start? I didnt tighten the battery leads enough. $130 trip to dealers not including the tow only to be told the battery wasnt connected.
Talk about feeling stupid.
Other than that, still no issues with the other engine work, and the mechanics even said they were surprised the job looked so professional considering i forgot to do something simple (read: stupid) as check the battery.
