Anyways I did get it on and so far no leaks. I am quite happy with the quality of the machining on this product though. We will see how easy it makes future oil changes which I'm honestly not really sure about after reinstalling the RCI skid. Looks like I will have to reach up through the opening in my LCAs in order to attach the drain piece which could be a little awkward, only time will tell I suppose.

I know what it means. It's all good. You find a way to master that in time. Most people minds wander.

They would have been Said I had that as a young kid. When I you kept the caffeine and sugar away from me I was fine.

Yeah to be fair I haven't heard of any disasters with them if you use that retainer clip. That said this design makes more sense IMO for my use case. Instead of trying to slip a hose on reaching around my skid and fiddling with the clip and then the lever, I just slip up there and thread the drain piece on and boom.

All good - whatever works. I see that ValvoMax doesn't make a m10-1.5 valve either. I want to be a maniac and valve my tranny pan so my skids never have to come off (wicked heavy 4XI brand).

Lol I was kind of wondering if they had the size for my manual drain bolt today as I also did a fluid change on my r150f today. The interval is way longer than you guys that do partial drain and fills on the auto trans though so I don't think it makes sense, assuming they have the size needed.

All good - whatever works. I see that ValvoMax doesn't make a m10-1.5 valve either. I want to be a maniac and valve my tranny pan so my skids never have to come off (wicked heavy 4XI brand).

I just drop the back of my trans skid (Shrockworks) and use a form-a-funnel to direct it to a pan. No need to fully remove it.

A Fumoto valve with a nipple and hose is on my oil pan. The hose stays there full time, hanging 1/2" or so below the skid. At oil change time, I use a pick to flip the valve and it goes right in the pan, no mess. Oil filters use a form-a-funnel again to keep it from dripping down the block onto the skids/diff.

I have used a Fumoto valve on basically all my vehicles, including lowered ones with 4" clearance to the ground - before they came out with the little clip. There's no way that thing is getting flipped accidentally, and a stainless ball in a teflon seat isn't leaking with zero pressure behind it.

How on earth did you use a formafunnel on the 5vz oil filter? I bought one hoping that was going to make things less messy but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how I was supposed to use it in this application....

Run up from the a-arm to the filter. Drain pan sits below the a-arm. Unscrew filter from wheel well and pull it out there as well.

I'm starting to wonder if I made a mistake with buying this thing. Was really looking at it just a second ago and I can't seem to figure out a way to reach around my RCI skid to get the drain attachment on there. I'm blocked by a cross-member in the back, the CVs on each side (also thinking those are going to be harder to change with skids). I might be able to reach in from the side front and under the cross-member that the diff drop is attached to but it's going to be very tight and totally blind lol.

Alright just looked them up and I'm totally baffled as to how you reach past those, looks even worse than mine. I have one option it seems and I think my beefy climbers forearms are going to be what might limit me.

I can use a hooked pick or flat blade screwdriver to operate the valve - and leave the hose on there all the time (not a big deal if it gets damaged or pulled off). I'd have trouble reaching all the way in there (often I'm trying to stay fairly clean if I'm doing just an oil change, too).

I've lost a hose off the short-nip version. Doesn't look like anyone makes a valve with the right thread pitch for the tranny drain. I also use the green form-a-funnel for the filter but I often have a little spill/mishap there. It's just in a tough place with aftermarket skids on but they will also catch the mistakes.

Now I'm wondering why I don't do that. I guess I just never thought about it. I just spent 5 frustrating minutes trying to get the hose aligned and popped on each time.

Yeah the hole in the RCI skid is just barely too small to fit my hand in >< I need to hire some child labor next time I need my oil changed lol.

I figure this design is no more likely to leak than a standard plug, it's not one of those fumoto style valves which definitely scare me. It's got great looking threads, a bomber gasket a ball valve and another cap with a gasket so it's basically triple protected. I would hope so considering it cost me 50 bucks >< Reason I went with this is because I would probably have to drop my RCI skids everytime I want to oil change otherwise. The fact that it's supposed to make the job much more mess free is a bonus.

I had the valvomax for a few years then switched to the fumoto a couple years ago because I didn't like the idea of needing the drain hose to thread into the valvomax plug to open the drain valve.

I thought the fumoto lever looked a little risky too which is why I initially went with valvomax but once I physcially had it in hand & saw how the lever worked it wasn't a concern. The fumoto valve I have (F103S LC-10) is also less bulky looking compared to the valvomax.
