vibration/humming sound

between 50-60, vibration/humming sound starts, let off the gas, sound goes away. give it gas, starts again. very annoying. it's not the tires.

Not sure if this has been asked before but is there a reason why a driveshaft lacking grease would lead to vibration only within a specific range such as 50-60mph that we typically hear about?

It's always been the u-joints in my experience, particularly when the problem gets worse under load. (2 T4R, 1 Taco) You can't always tell by inspecting them either - there are several threads where various experts looked at them and called them good only to finally change them and solve the problem later.

So how do you fix this? Blast some grease into the zerk fitting? What kind of grease?

Haven't replaced them yet.

Are you sure? I have the same year and mine are. I lube them up every six months or so. I use Mobil 1 Synthetic. It's a good Lithium based grease.

Dunno exactly, but that's how they fail.

It's a fairly straightforward fix. I had a driveline shop replace mine and balance the driveshaft for about $175.

i may go the route of replacing U-joints. does anyone have OE part numbers or where to get quality replacements? mine aren't greasable and the front one is showing signs of the sealed grease oozing out.

i looked up that number and it is superseded by the one i got so those are the ones. $53 and change each.

spicer doesn't have any greaseable ones for toyota.
