vibration mmmmm! toyota problems mmmmm!

91 toyota 4runner 4x4 manuel Locking Hubs
So its started to snow here in calgary and went out to drive my 4runner. when I put it into 4wheeldrive, hubs locked driving 20km or higher there is a VERY powerful vibration. I did check all m U-joints and there fine. No play or wiggle and still greased. DOES ANYONE HAVE A CLUE WHAT IS GOING ON! BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEAE!!!! drove it last week in the ice and it was fine and now oer night almost this problem has come to me for haunting.

Does it do it when the hubs are locked but you're NOT in 4WD? What if you're in 4WD with the hubs unlocked?

did you have an issues for that trip?

I have ran into this before. I broke the centering ball on the front DC. you cant tell by shaking the DL, because the u-joints are still good, and tight. but when the DL spins, it doesn't rotate, but it acts more like a jump rope, and swings. if that makes sense. I had to pull the DL off completely to verify it.

4wheel OFF, hubs locked. yes slight vibration. 4wheel ON, Hubs OFF. no vibration

Double Cardan. and Drive Line.


doubtful. I couldn't see up inside the joint, and like I said, everything stays tight. the only way I could find it, was to remove the front driveline completely.

ok that's just odd, and not likely a driveline problem then. maybe something with a cv axle?

does the steering wheel vibrate?

it is odd haha, ya everything vibrates. I do know that i have a slight alignment issue thats been the same for months but ive driven in 4wheel before like this with no issues. this is weird eh?!!!
CV axels Appear to be intact have no Visible imperfection from what can be felt or seen


I talked to a mechanic, he said he doesn't think its alinement..

Jack up the front of the truck, lock the hubs, leave it in 2wd and spin the wheels by hand. You should be able to find it then.

what is DC and DL? lol ? hmm any videos on youtube that could verify how to check this?

so what should i look for when removing my DL on the DC (removing driveshaft here shortly)
