Vin location

Hello

Iam going to buy my first Toyota today.Its going to be an 4runner 2008 with 3.0 diesel engine.My question is how many vin numbers does it have and where are they placed.Would like to check it completly.Thank you

It will have at least 1. Although mine has it's vin number on all the bumpers, doors, fenders, the frame and all the windows

You should know (unless your in a foreign country) this truck will be a Frankenstein with parts from at the minimum of two different trucks, if not more.

If you're buying any vehicle that's been imported or built in the US it will be located at the very bottom right corner of the windshield. Just inside the glass. The VIN number may be in other locations (etched on windows, inside doors). But, those are usually put there by the dealerships.

I don't know if Toyota still does this, but whoever bought my 3rd gen from the dealer had the option to add etched in vins on all the windows. So that's a possibility. There's at least one for sure, as stated above. I'm pretty sure there is one on the frame as well that's probably up front, visible from the fender well. Dunno what side though.

There should also be a plate on the firewall with the VIN stamped in it. This post really should have included your location, as the diesel part seems to be throwing a lot of people off, they weren't offered in North America.
