I had long assumed that these systems are all linked together but it appears they are not. I have been driving with the VSC/TRAC blissfully disabled for 4 months now and I have noticed a few things.
1. I can spin the tires at will or pitch the vehicle sideways in the corners on a dirt roadd without the traction nannies stepping in (obviously)
2. My ABS is still functioning
3. ATRAC still appears to be working in 4LO, example I used a semi truck loading dock as an inpromtu RTI ramp and put the 4Runner in a see saw position with the passenger front tire and driver side rear tire in the air. The tires slipped and I could feel the ABS pulsing at either end and then the usual clicks and pops the vehicle kept driving and didnt lose traction.
4. HAC no longer works and the vehicle will roll haphazardly down a large hill in reverse.
5. I actually dont know if DAC is working because I honestly find it kind of gimicky and never use it anyways.
The method of defeating the VSC/TRAC system was an accident and happened when my Ultragauge attempted to communicate with the 4Runners OBD2 computer with CANbus instead of the older ISO protical my 2004 v8 uses. This causes an error and for whatever reason the computer to erase the zero point data and defeats the VSC/TRAC.
Anyways I guess the point of all this rambling is how are all these systems linked, or rather not linked?
