i am highly skeptical that there won't be a new 4Runner until 2021. I think it comes next year as a 2019 or at the latest in 2019 as a 2020 model year.

I spoke with a general manager of a Toyota dealership, he does not know for sure when the 6th gen will come out but he also thinks it will be 2021. He also said that it will be made in America in the new factory that Toyota has been building.

That's terrible news.... that the 4Runner will be built here LMAO. Seriously though, one of the main selling points of the 4Runner is that it is STILL built in Japan.

I agree the Toyota factory is next-level dope. That said...
-The million mile Tundra came out of the US factory.
-The brushed-aluminum interior trim on my 2018 started showing weird surface-level oxidation/drying/cracking at 3 months old, so the Japanese factory isn't perfect.
-Not only that, but the rear passenger fenderwell of my 2018 was missing a little sound insulation overspray on the bolt threads that protruded thru from inside where the rear seat bolts in. Just a minor issue... except that I also noticed the same defect on a brand new 2018 Land Cruiser 200 at the dealership lol. So again, the Japanese aren't infallible.
-US is getting pretty badass at manufacturing. I'd be highly tempted to buy a 6th gen that's made in America, especially if it drops 2-300 lbs, has a turbo, and 6 gears. But I expect the upgrade price won't be bad -- as the 5th gen prices will hold up quite well, giving me lots of options!

Prob going to have the stupid ass fob and push button start (just another thing to break if you ask me).
If we get the tacomas automatic trans that's a downgrade as that thing shifts like dog shit and holds high gears for long ass periods of time in cruise control.
If we get the tacomas engine that's another .5 liters of displacement we are losing.
Made in the USA? No thanks. (prob doesn't matter all that much but it's peace of mind for me)
I like that our trucks are kinda old school. Proven and reliable. 1st production run of a new gen does not interest me at all.
Happy with my 5th gen just like I was with my 3rd. I would dish out for a landcruiser over the 6th gen (based on what we think it's gonna be).
