I really want a TEP on Classic Silver but finding one is difficult. May have to settle for SR5P....am I giiving up a lot for not having the locking rear diff vs. ATRAC? I cannot see needing the crawl control but would like the diff lock for times. Does the ATRAC substitute for those times when slipping in mud may be an issue? Also does the ATRAC come standard with the 4x4 editions.
I too ended up buying an SR5p (see below) over a trail for the same availability reasons. Yes the SR5 4x4 has it.
ATRAC helps out tremendously over a normal open diff 4x4. You will virtually never get cross-axeled and far, far, less likely to get stuck over a standard 4x4 in the same conditions.
Not as good as a fully locked front and rear (Though the trail is only a rear locker) but I've gone up many things that jeeps with no lockers got stuck on just because of the ATRAC.
That said I did just add a rear locker to my SR5p, leaving ATRAC to take care of the front for just that bit more traction control in extreme off camber or rutty/rocky trail conditions that ATRAC may limit out on.
But ATRAC alone is pretty amazing and as a single feature probably the most important feature on the trail overall, so the SR5 will be pretty amazing offroad as well!
