So of course my motor failed on my Warn 9.5 XP Winch because of not sealing the drain port from having a front mounted feet on my ARB bumper. I always exercised the winch like your suppose to and I am almost positive I remove the silicone/caulk from the lower/bottom drain port. Of course during the Winter storms here in NJ I was having fun using the winch. All of a sudden the winch began to slow down with out a load on the line and then just STOPPED. I just get the click from the relay but the drum doesn't spin at all, I tried engaging and disengaging the clutch, and tried to power the motor in and out but still no action just a clicking.
I assume its the motor but haven't check it with a meter yet to ensure that the power is getting to the motor. I stuck I small allen key in the bottom drain port which had a small amount of very rusty/ orange water drip from the opening so I almost have no doubt the motor is done.
It really sucks because its only 2 years old with minimal real usage. I even have dielectric grease over all of the electrical connections so I took every precaution to try an prevent any issues so I'm pretty bummed out.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get the best price a replacement motor (68608)? I'm also open to any suggestions on replacement and suggestions to prevent this from reoccurring? I want to fill the motor with epoxy like I see in variable speed HVAC motor modules.!
Any comment, suggestions, and or other things l should so to make this winch better and even more reliable as possible. Perhaps even a better more powerful motor, if possible?
I really appreciate everyone and anyone's help. I need to have this rectified before I install my Radflo 2.5 suspension Kit, control arms, and all the goodies that come with that! Then I can ditch my 2.5/1.5 Daystar spacer kit.
