First off - I'm glad to be here on T4R.ORG. Just bought my first 4Runner two days ago and I'm excited to get started. It's a stock 99 SR5 Manual (no locker) with the only addition being Toyo AT2 tires. Over time I will be setting it up for some adventuring but for the time being I'd like some advice on where to go this coming weekend. I'm deploying in a few weeks (short trip) and would like to take the family on a nice easy route with an overnight stay. Here is what we are looking for:
Easy: Stock vehicle so I'm not looking for anything technical. I have done some wheeling in the past but I'm not an expert. Plus, we will be single vehicle.
Scenic: This will by my wife and two kids first exposure to off road travel. I'd like it to be a positive experience that will make them excited for the next trip and the expense of setting the vehicle up for more advanced trips.
Campable (is that a word?): We want this trip to be an overnight trip with a remote camp spot.
Free of Snow: I understand it's a little early in the season for many of the areas in the Cascades.
I had hoped for something like Bethel Ridge but I imagine that route has some snow on it this time of year. Anybody with some experience driving in the cascades have a trip in mind that would fit the bill? Thanks in advance.
