Weird electrical zapping noise coming from engine bay

Hi all, I've heard this weird electrical zapping/buzzing noise coming from my engine bay the last couple times I've opened my engine bay. I originally thought it was a bee buzzing around somewhere, but I've consistently heard it two or three times now. It also only seems to occur after I take it for a longer drive, as I can't get it to repeat by starting the car for a few seconds and turning it off. I think it's coming from the fuse box/black box area? (I'm new to mechanics and have no idea what the black box with fluid lines going in and out is). Also not sure if this is related, but I occasionally get static zapped when I shut the driver's side door, though the intensity varies each time and doesn't always happen. Any help would be much appreciated!

It's the charcoal canister purging the vapors from the gas tank and is completely normal, albeit annoying. A fix is a new canister from a 99-00 as they have a built in resonator for this reason.

Thanks for the fast response! That's interesting, I didn't think gas would sound like that being released. Glad its okay and I doesn't need to be fixed.

Hah, my '96 will do that for over 2 weeks when I leave it parked. Figured it was just like me, a little exercise and it'll wheeze for a long time

EDIT: You already have the moo-fixed cannister.....I was thinking you had the older box and an older 3rd gen. Or- do you have a 96 that someone swapped boxes on?
Clogged line? Bad canister? Bad vsv? Cracked box? Cracked line? Bad gas cap? CEL?

For the early 3rd gen:
It's been described as buzzing bees and mooing. I call it the moo-box. There's a simple fix without getting a different canister, my take on it:

Which I ran for 50,000 miles without a hitch.
The box doesn't need to be that big at all, it's just what I had on hand, plus I found it amusing. Maybe unamoosing?

Regarding swapping for the newer box- out of curiosity I swapped with my husband's '99 and it did NOT stop the 96's mooing. The 99, however, started mooing with my '96's box.
