Weird problem: "VCS OFF" and "VSC TRAC" lights, and throttle lag

I'm having a weird problem, and it didn't really start until it got cold. Every now and then I get the "VCS OFF" and "VSC TRAC" lights, and there's a lag in the throttle. If I push the gas pedal down (pump the throttle or whatever) the lights go off, and things seem to go back to normal.

Background info: A while back (early fall) I removed and cleaned the throttle body. Because I'm an idiot I thought there was something wrong with it and monkeyed with it a bit. I got those same lights and the throttle lag. I tightened the throttle cable enough to get them to turn off and everything was fine, but I had to get it tight enough to where the thing the throttle cable attaches to is not all the way seated back when off throttle.

Any thoughts or shots in the dark?

"VSC OFF" and "VSC TRAC" are generic codes to alert you there is an issue. Should be coupled with a check engine light.

Have you tried pulling codes for the engine?

Your check engine light should also be on. Clean your MAF and reset the codes.

Unless you did the AndyMod 2.0 like a lot of 01-02 guys keep their VCS OFF and VCS TRAC lights on all the time (I always do in the snow, I have more control of the vehicle).

Check engine light doesn't come on at all. It's weird.
Think it could be my TPS? It seems to be related to the thing the throttle cable pulls on.
I hope something isn't messed up.

Doesn't come on even when you first start the truck? Should be on for a few seconds when you first start the truck.

It doesn't come one when I have the problem.
When I fire up the truck, all the normal lights come on, but sometimes the two lights described in the first post stay on.
There are times sitting at a traffic light, that just those two lights come on. And if I "pump" the gas, they go away.
