Weird radio behavior in cold

Well, we got our payback for the hot summers this last few days with 0 +/- temps. The radio display in my 4Runner is going nuts for a few minutes when I first turn the truck on. Its a factory non-JBL unit. Steering wheel control do work, but the display is just unintelligible.

Anyone else having this issue?

Mine does the same in extreme cold, the screen just needs to warm up for a few seconds that's all. I wouldn't worry about it

Most LCD's are only rated down to about -10c and while they will work, they will work very slow until they warm up.

Same issue with mine here in MN. My screen doesn’t like the below 0 temps we’ve been having, doesn’t affect function though.

I have the same issue in IL. Ironically mine started to happen in the warm weather.

The screen gets "stuck" or blips out completely into hieroglyphics.

Going to solve the issue with a new double din touch screen from Pioneer...

A new double DIN is on my list as well. Weird as I have never had this issue with any of my many toyotas and we get cold here in winter, at least in spurts.
