Weird throttle/acceleration hesitation

The same thing was happening to my 4runner. I put it in the shop and found out it was the fuel pump. They tested it and saw the pressures weren’t in the normal operating range.

They replaced it with factory pump and fixed the problem.

2006 4runnner limited V8. 200k.

9/29 update: no hesitation return. consensus is the throttle body cleaning (first in 230k miles) helps here.

model: 2007 sr5 v6 4wd 229k miles

Problem: started occurring several weeks ago. the ability to access;erate will just drop out, then return after a few seconds, then maybe repeat. in that moment, i can floor it without immediate response. if i do that, in a moment i can feel it kick in and zoom.

the feeling is as if i am removing my foot from the gas pedal. it is chronic enough that it occurs multiple times each day.

This also sounds like the TRAC kicking in to de-throttle the engine and regain traction

thx for the comment. was about to update this thread. as of december 15, zero hesitation. so, my experience suggests cleaning the throttle body as a first course of action if experiencing this symptom. glad i did not jump into a fuel pump replacement.
