Wish me luck...but in the end, what the heck is the dealer supposed to do if Toyota doesn't make a proper seat frame.:cry2:
Well here I go again...back to dealer to get Seat Pop Looked At..

You have like the worst luck! Man I feel for you!
So yesterday I went to the dealership. Shop Foreman took it for a drive. Nothing.
I went with the Shop foreman. Nothing.
We probably spent 30 minutes trying to pop. He seemed concerned but without actually hearing it, he said he couldn't do anything.
He took back into the shop and shaved the pins. I can see why, the Pins are only required for install. They are covered with some sort of teflon/silicone which was worn right thru.
It's wait and see now. The Shop foreman did insist on me bringing it back if the problem comes back.
Whatever. If it gets bad again soon I'll take it back in. If the pop comes back next summer (its temperature dependent-Never pops in cold weather) I'll just lithium grease the crap out of it.
I might sound defeated but since Toyota has apparently zero fix, and I'll be close to 100K next summer after only 3 years...I'll jsut diy FIX IT.

my seat pop is so bad, I can get it to do it on command anytime. I actually changed the seat position because the pop used to depend on acceleration/braking, which drove me nuts. so I changed the seat position and now It only pops when I lean back on the seat.
is there a TSB for the seat pop? my truck only has powertrain warranty left on it, do you think the dealer would still fix it for free? if not, I'll have to fix it myself... im a heavy duty mechanic by trade, and i bought a truck with warranty so i dont have to spend me free time fixing more vehicles. UGH

Powertrain Warranty won't cover it. Your out of luck unfortunately.
Lithium Grease it to death I say.
