Wet carpet - when it gets cold outside

Every so often I notice that my carpet is damp underneath my driver side weathertech mat. It's always the same place, about where my right heel is resting while I'm driving.

I'm positive it's not water coming in from the outside, it's temperature related. If it's freezing outside, or close to freezing, I notice it's wet. During the time of the year when it's not cold the carpet stays dry.

I've lifted up the carpet and checked underneath, and the padding underneath the carpet is dry.

So best guess this is condensation due to temperature swings. But why is it always in this spot? Anyone else seeing this?

Beat way to diagnose this is go to a coin car wash or your own water hose at home with a buddy while they spray all around your windshield as you are there, ( make sure you have previously pulled back and away the floor carpets so you are looking at bare floor) look under neath and up towards firewall and you should be able to see where the water is leaking in from... probably windshield seal/ mouldings..

Thanks, but the water isn't coming in from the outside. It's been unusually dry in Seattle this fall, and it's getting wet while it's not raining.

I'm afraid those are not helpful, [MENTION=26691]Bossman[/MENTION]. As I mentioned up front, this happens when it's cold outside. Doesn't happen when it's raining.

I live in the Seattle area. No wet floors. I can't see condensation causing this. I park outside.

Is your air conditioning draining? A.C. is used during defrost.

Oddly enough, I have a similar-ish issue. I've noticed that when it's cold outside, the inside of my windshield is fogged up when I get in. Not completely iced over, just an area in the lower third. The defroster takes care of it quickly (and I leave the AC on to dry the air) but I too have noticed this.
