Wet floor????

Hey everyone, on my 08 i went and pulled up my passenger side mat to shake the, out. i have some cheapos on top, brand new originals underneath, then the normal carpet. anyways when i pulled up the first mat, nothing, dry. second mat was soaked! and of course the carpet underneath it. it had rained very heavily that day, but even the last two mornings it has been damp on the lower carpets, not above...not coolant, or any other funny stuff. just water...cant seem to find anywhere it may be coming from....ideas????

Mine just did this. Look at the sunroof drain holes. There in the front corners of the sunroof while open

PM nortex...he just had a similar issue and it was clogged drains from the sunroof. That is if you have a sunroof. If not, disregard.

lmao thats funny. yes i do have a sunroof...limited model. Nortex how do i go about remedying this? i also have a visor on the sunroof...wonder if that has anything to do with it???

Just check the holes first. Mine had leaves covering them. I un blocked them and ran some water down them with the carpet uo so I could see if it leaked. The wayer should come out in frnt of the front tires

OP do have two floor mats stacked on top of each other? If you do, remove the 2nd on the driver side if you haven't already that is one of the causes of the run away Toyota's. Yeah the sunroof drains can be a pain especially if you live in an area that has a lot of trees pine needles are a big pain I'll tell you. I have to run a piece of bailing wire down the drain at least twice a year.

Yes...i do have them stacked....well aware of the issue. I worked for toyota during that time and had the wonderful task of cutting up all the original all weather mats that were recalled into multiple pieces as to keep them from being reused...sad thing. My runner has had the....43L? Cant remember the recall code...but i still have them stacked. Thankfuly the cheapo mat doesnt even reach over by the accelerator. It thins out too much. I wouldnt have them stacked but those original mats are so light colored and expensive. Dont wanna be cleaning them all the time...so the cheapos cover them...unless im going on a date

I had the same problem with my Sequoia and thought it was the sunroof, but turns out it was the windshield seal. If you've EVER had your windshield replaced (not just recently) you may want to check that as well.

my passenger side is soaking wet, i thought it might be something from the ac or something, but this leaking windshield idea could be the culprit. i know the previous owner replaced the windshield and sometimes i can hear a whistle coming from it while at highway speeds... i guess it could be leaking onto the carpet somewhere too,

update

well i cleaned sunroof drains, helped some but i am still getting the wet floor underneath the floor mat. i was removing the aftermarket XM antenna and noticed this trim pictured below was quite loose, would that have anything to do with it? also saw someone mentioned A/C drain? whats up with that? thanks everyone!

If those trim pieces are loose, it means your windshield has more than likely been replaced. The glass companies usually take the half assed approach of prying them up and not properly securing them afterwards. Those seals themselves don't seal out water, but like Derek G mentioned, the epoxy under the windshield may not be making a proper seal.

Another more likely culprit is a plugged AC evaporator drain. It runs near the passenger side firewall. When you run the AC, water is supposed to drip out on the ground. When it gets plugged up, it backs up into the passenger compartment on the passenger side. Stick a weed whacker line or something else similar up there and see if that fixes the problem.

its just on the passenger side that its loose, where the XM antenna was placed, drivers side has no issues...windshield looks factory toyota, has the etched Toyota stuff on lower drivers side, no other evidence of replacement, noise, sloppy seal, etc...thinking a/c drain may be it...where is it?

i'll try and run it down. thanks! i think thats it, as i was using the a/c yesterday, parked truck in the garage, had wet floor in the morning! not soaked just damp. also noticed one day i had it running, i didnt have a puddle forming under the car as i did with the 07, rather a small spot
