What brand intake for V8 4runner

Looking for recommendations on which intake to go with for my 4.7

Purely looking for more growl and enjoyment factor.

So far I am leaning toward the volant intake but wanted to see if anyone had other recommendations or if I'm on the right track.

Remove the carbon filter, once its removed you can hear the stock intake at full throttle!

Getting into the stock paper vs. aftermarket level of filtration debate but in my opinion, stock airbox with this filter + air inlet tube mods give nice sound and look, no data to support performance.

More info on deleting the intake tube silencers to liven things up. The mesh on the airbox scares me but I did the tube with no issues.

Do the HCF delete also. I didn’t notice a difference in power but it does help the sound. Do a muffler next and it’ll sound like the V8 it is. I get comments on mine regularly.

I would say save your money, get a aFe Pro Dry Drop In Filter and do the Hydrocarbon filter removal. IMO CAI are for the "cool" factor and looks. This is the part number if you wanna go this route. aFe 31-10027.

Our V8s already sort of have a CAI, they pull the colder denser air from the wheel well from outside the engine bay. What everyone has said above, delete carbon filter and add a dry afe, I did the same had no problems in passing Washington emissions either....use the cash towards a lifetime K&N in cabin filter

I used to have a K&N intake. It sounded great, but I personally felt that my truck never drove smoothly with it. Once I went back to the stock intake, throttle control was as smooth as butter.

Keep the stock intake and get a dry filter. I went with the AEM dry filter and have zero issues with it.

Have to get a bit creative with the fit, but I found a nice solution.
