Buy a quality mig welder from tractor supply and read the book that comes with it, you'll be welding before dinner time. The bigger the better and make sure you get one that uses argon gas not flux core wire. The guys at TSC or Orchelins, or Attwoods will be glad to help you get started. Theres no need for a cert unless your interested in TIG, MIG, GAS, STICK, blah blah bah. The welding police wont come get you for having fun with electricity!
yeah, its 2X4 by 3/16 thick welded to the side supports and hitch tube of a U-haul hitch. (tow hooks by Tractor supply)
when you find your suppler ask for a "drop" (scrap). In S Mo a drop of 2X4 is about 6 bucks a foot. you can buy a hitch out of the salvage yard prob most 80s mini trucks will fab up.
