I bought it with 130k. It had spent most of its life in MN so I was a little concerned but luckily I knew what to look for so it was in pretty good shape underneath. The rest of the vehicle was in great shape with very few scratches. I paid 13k which for this area was around 1k below KBB. I love it regardless of the price and will buy a newer model in a couple of yrs.

got this 06 v6 4x4 a few months ago for $8500 with 194k on it. 1 owner with every service record and every recommended maintenance in the book done at the same dealership since new. they changed every fluid in it every 30k and synthetic oil every 5k. from the va beach area so not a spec of rust on it either.

We're having twins!
Last October got my daughter her first truck, we picked up a 2004 Black V8 4x4 Sport with 193k, K02 tires, Lifted, everything works in it, all fluids changed, well maintained "in the family" so essentially a one owner, with great carfax and peace of mind for her dad (me) that its a good investment for her out of the gate... that was $9400
and I loved it so much, about 3 weeks ago I just got:
2004 Silver V8 4x4 Sport with 223k, K02 tires, stock and neglected, been in few fender benders, resprayed front and back bumpers, every bulb out, was a city family car with just oil changes, brakes, battery, stuff done only when it needs it. and I suspect its on its original timing belt because they had it 100k and it said they never did it and the sister had it for 40k before them and never did it.... originally a carmax car to 70k and you know they didnt do it... so this family threw it around the aunts, uncles, sisters.
It had car seats in the back when I got it and has a dog smell. LOL. Runs great and someone has put new seats in it (they arent sport seats, maybe SR5?) and so thats nice, engine is solid except for occasional tranny thud ( a testament to the vehicle, not the owners), 4wd all works fine. I have since been cleaning it up, replaced about every dang bulb in the thing. I really love it more and more. Going to get it to my mechanic buddy to assess the innards.... anyway, got that one for $5k

Cool! Enjoy them.
An Ozone machine will get rid of the dog smell. Google to read up on it.
The tranny thud, may be the result of a common problem.
The drive shaft (toyota calls it the propeller... honestly), is known to have
a "thud" sometimes when you're stopped.
The solution is to add lube to the grease nipples. There are 6 of them. Search the forum for more info.
Toyota actually had a Service bulletin about this thud, and a redesigned part that could be swapped that fixed the problem, but our trucks are too old to get Toyota
to do anything about it for us.

arty:I've now added the TSA (tech service advisory)...
it was for the Lexus, but it use the same part as our 4Runner, and the 4Runners experience the same problem.
The TSA is more for an FYI, as there is a good chance that your "thud" may be this same issue.

Three weeks ago I bought a 2004 V8 Sport Edition with 66,000 miles for $3500. I had to do the timing belt due to age. It had brand new AT tires on it. They wanted $4K for it but took $3500 because of the timing belt. Not a spec of rust, no door dings, pristine interior.

That sounds reasonable to me, especially with the items that were recently replaced. Two years ago, I paid $21K for 08 V8 4WD limited with about 105K miles (IIRC), and then put another $5K or so into new suspension, 5th gen brakes, new tires, new sway bar end-links, and polyurethane bushings. The only thing that I can say is that it was ultra-clean, it had zero rust, it was fully loaded, and the color was white (I found that White 4R's can sometimes sell for $2K more than other colors... seriously!) in fact, it had a few upgrades such as CD players in the headrests and after market rims too. None-the-less, I know I paid top dollar, but I got what I wanted too.
