Those are both nice trucks. Did you buy it with the stock tires and stock bumper, or with all the goodies shown in the 2nd pic?

I bought it stock. Added the Toytec Bilstein coilovers, Arb bumper, 9500 synthetic rope Superwinch, 225w led lights, and the 285 Wrangler MT/R with kevlar. Also had to add Spidertrax wheel spacers.

about $100+ for the registration. Sr5 V8 4x4 with 174,000 miles. Not going to get another better deal in my lifetime. Didnt even know about the 4runner and how good it was until I drove it and it felt like new. traded my mats that was not needed for the car..
Saw a limited 2005 V8 the other day at auction with 27k miles... sold for $20k. Wish i could have gotten it.

I agree they are asking way too much, but I also think they're worth a bit more than KBB since they do look to be in great condition
and also they do have mods or new parts which bring the value above KBB IMHO, how much above would have to be seen in person to know,
if they were all stock KBB is my top dollar.
Here's another one in Savannah Ga., 2002 SR5 4WD, 189,000 miles and they're asking $14,500, now I will amit they T4R is beautiful truck,
and very clean and looks to be build recently and very well, but I just don't see it being worth what they're asking!

I know a person can put a lot of money in these T4Rs, but when was the last time if at all you were able to get what you put into a vehicle when selling it??

I spend a lot of time looking for broken cars to buy/fix, keep/sell....I scored on my current 4th gen for $1500 with a broken timing chain due to schlocked repairs previously...I rebuilt it and now its good.
I found a clean 2005 with 200K on it, owner advertised it with a bad headgaskets for $5500...told me he had offers for $4700 already and wouldn't take a dime less than $5500. WTF? A few more, same deal. These should be $2000-3000 if they're clean with that mileage.
I almost scooped up a 2004 with 240K and bad head gaskets for $2500, but luckily for me, someone got there first...had destroyed leather seats, the original trans, and some chinko off brand tires.
I truely don't understand the pricing.

I know they typically do sell for above KBB (which sucks as a buyer but is great for selling) but not that much. KBB Values exist for a reason. When a car is in perfect running condition, then it is worth the 'excellent' KBB value, not double it. If the truck has issues, like most do, then it is less. Every truck I've seen generally has thousands of dollars of work that SHOULD probably be done even if it "runs and looks great!" (Examples: control arms, t-belt, manifolds, engine service, tires, T-case leaks) which makes the final cost of buying an old 4runner insane. And it blows my mind when people somehow think the "dealer sale" value applies to their private sale.
Point being: some of these trucks often are just are not worth the price of admission.
In the end, the market will dictate the selling price so I hope these examples never sell.
For reference, I got my 03 v8, as described in my signature, for $9150, which is a few thousand above KBB already but unfortunately the best deal I could find in my local market after many months if searching. Much above that and I could have gotten a newer Tundra or a GX470

From a dealership with free oil changes/inspections for a year, 3 month warranty, with Karr alarm and etched windows.
It was the color and package I wanted and had been searching for months. The day it got traded in, I was on the lot test driving before it had even been detailed. Pulled the trigger and barely fought them on the price.
Sometimes, paying extra is worth the piece of mind of not settling.

2006 sport 4wd v6 w/68,000 miles. Zero rust looked like showroom condition also got all paperwork from original owner who bought it from the same toyota dealer that sold it to me. I paid 16,500 out the door with a 5 year 50k toyota warranty. Side note it took me over year to find the right 4runner I probably looked at 20 some of which I drove 4-5 hours to see.

I bought it from my dad at a family price, so not a great data point, but in 2011, I paid $10k (EDIT: maybe $12k? I can't remember but it was a couple thou below blue book) cash for 2005 Limited V8 4wd, i think around 130,000 miles then. It was fully loaded - he got a deal on it new because in 2005 it was the most expensive one on the lot, they couldn't move it because you could get a base Sequoia for same price.
Timing was right, I had just killed my '97 4runner with 350k miles and he was "upgrading" to a new Honda Ridgeline. He immediately regretted it too, lol. I think he likes it ok now, lots of handy toys but it's not a T4R (or a truck for that matter).
