What did everyone pay for their 4th gen?

Paid $4700 for my 2003 Limited 4wd V8 with 282k on the clock.



I've put a little over $1000 into it with swapping the XREAS out for Tacoma stuff, needed maintenance work and swapping the stock rims over to 2003 Sequoia rims that I got for $150.

I like those Tacoma wheels! I wanna replace my stock ones as they are peeling but I'm already a little over budget already beaten parts and new stereo equipment i didnt need!

Not to mention remote starter getting installed today! [emoji28]

2003 Limited with 300k km (186k miles). Smashed up tailgate needed to be replaced (cost me $500 CAD for a salvaged replacement). $6700 CAD ($5060 USD).

You guys from the U.S need to shop up in Canada, the prices aren’t nearly as high. I payed 6k (cad) had to fix the 4x4 actuator. So 10k all in for a 2004 Limited V8 with 190k km’s five years ago!!

Yeah, "overlanding" hasn't caught on up here as much as in the US, so we don't pay the same premium for 4runners, cherokees, etc. People are selling late 90s Cherokees in the US for 10k, meanwhile you can get a decent one up here for 3k! That's my armchair theory anyway.

But the import process is annoying, and sometimes expensive. And a lot of Canada is heavily salted half of the year, so stick to the west coast if you do buy in Canada.

I picked up a 2005 SR5 with 124K miles for $2,500. My neighbor had been storing it for several years in his driveway for his brother in law. They were driving it only about 100 miles in one year. I got under it and saw very little rust and it started right up and ran smooth. It took me about 5 minutes to tell him I'd take it. It has lots of dings and dents with the biggest damage on the rear bumper which pushed in the corner of the lift gate. The moon roof was stuck open, tires rotted, rotors warped and one caliper seized. So I spent $1,500 in parts in no time (did all work myself) but for $4,000 I now have a great truck. I think I did well. My first Toyota and I love it!

You did fantastic! Check out car-part.com for used parts to swap if needed. Could find some nice fenders hoods whatever you need.

I picked this up about 3 months ago. In great shape for a 03. Purchased it with 104000 for 7k. Very very minimal rust for the north east and came with some aftermarket items as well.

First Toyota and I’m enjoining this thing very much.

‘06 4x4 sport, high miles, but (almost) perfect. $1500. Owner was told it had a head gasket problem, it is now running perfect with a $17 fuel injector replacement. Got a set of Tacoma TRD struts and springs for $70 to replace XREAS. All in on a great truck for about $1600. (Photo is before suspension work)

I bought my 2005 SR5 4WD V6 in 2017 for $7900 out the door. It had around 175k miles on it at the time.

I paid $3000 in January 2020 for my 05 SR5 4wd. High miles but in extremely good condition. Runs and drives like new. Just needed minor cosmetic stuff.
