What do with stock suspension after lift? What other 4R's could use the parts?

I have the stock suspension from my 5th gen just sitting in my garage, and I've always wondered what would be compatible/useful to someone with say a 4th or 3rd gen. I say that because I assume most 5th gens are new enough that no one would be interested in replacing the stock parts with used stock parts, however for the prior generations it could be an cheap way to keep it on the road.

I have the coilovers/UCAs and rear springs/shocks that were used for about 28k miles, so they have a lot of life left. Which of those parts would fit a 3rd or 4th gen? I'm really just looking to clear space in my garage and I don't know what to do with this stuff.

unless your selling used PRO suspension, standard low mileage SR5/Prem does not have much value here. not sure about any compatibility for other gens. just post it up and perhaps another SR5/Prem might need spare parts. :beer:

There are 3 complete 5th gen suspensions on craigslist where I live right now asking 400-500 and they have been on there a while. I just put mine in the attic and figured for a couple hundred bucks it would be better to have it around in case I sold / traded the truck down the road.

I'm holding on to mine until the 5th gen start aging to the point where stalkers need replacement parts.

The upper control arms I believe are the same for the third fourth and fifth gens. the rear shocks are the same for the 4th and 5th, not sure about the coils. The front coilovers we'll fit 5th gen 4 Runners and I believe the last FJ Cruiser model.

An entire used suspension front coilovers, ucas, rear shocks and springs will run about a hundred to a hundred fifty bucks based on some of the recent sales in the classifieds, but that should go up once the unmodded 5th gens need parts

Interesting. I don't have my 5th gen anymore so I'd only be looking to get shipping + a little $ to make it worth my time. I've done a bit more research and it sounds like the rear suspension will bolt up to 3rd gen, although that guy was saying something about installing the shocks from a TRDP and the springs falling out with too much flex. So I'm assuming he installed the 5th gen shocks, but not the springs. I guess I could just list it while it's sitting in my garage taking up space, and if someone wants to buy it, great. I was just hoping for more info for my craigslist ad, like "will fit 4th gen." or "rear will fit 3rd gen."

keep it for when you need to send your shocks and coilovers away to be rebuilt, unless you plan on doing that work yourself.

I should preface this by saying that I hate keeping things lying around that get no use. Hate it!

The only thing that people seem to want right now are the rear coils, because they will work as rear lift coils for a 3rd gen (I think). I had a few people want mine when I removed my suspension... but apparently I was some sort of ******* by asking them to pay for shipping cost because they pestered me about them but as soon as I asked them to PP me some funds to cover shipping (coils were free) they disappeared like farts in the wind.

I posted all the OEM stuff on CL for like $50, got no takers. Ended up just throwing it all away.

That's my suggestion. Trash that shit. Clean garage, clean mind, or something.

If it ain't Pro, it ain't worth the metal its made out of. You might get lucky to find someone looking to revert back to stock -- that the only reason I kept my rear springs.

I would give it away before I'd trash anything. Throwing all that steel in a landfill is bad for everyone.

I would offer it to anyone on the forum, or an alignment, tire or suspension shop for free before I'd throw it away.

i gave it to the shop that installed my suspension setup. They probably will put it to good use on someone's busted up car/wreck/etc..... I don't care if they make money on them, the shop I went to are good people.

I plan to keep mine for one of the following situations

1) take the truck back to stock to sell it for some reason
2) wait until the 5gs really start aging and sell them to someone locally in need of some sub 15K miles suspension.

Spare OEM suspension parts

I just lifted my 2015 T4R with an ICON Stage 7, so I not only have the same OEM suspension parts, I have the rear trailing arms and track bar too.

I don't imagine I'll get any money for it. I like the idea of giving it to the alignment shop that aligned my truck, if he'll take them. They did a good job and I used them before when I had my Jeep GC.

I don't want to toss them in the landfill and the shocks probably can not be scrapped due to the labor required to empty the oil out.
