What do you love about the 3rd gen Toyota 4Runner?

It has that "foreign feel". It still has that older Japanese truck feel, along with the Nissans, Mitsus, and Isuzus of that era. Look at the 96-98 cup holders. How could a feature that is primarily important for the US market be such an afterthought? Love it.

The later ones have some very beneficial upgrades, but they lack the "feel". You can tell they focused on the US market a little too much.

It always gets me home.

I've had some pretty serious failures, and I can't blame the truck, all of them due to rust from having to endure 19 years of salt.

Failed alternator, blown power steering lines, rear tailing arm bracket rusted and broke off the frame (that was fun), blown coolant lines to the rear heater core.

Most of those events happened further than an hour from home and I limped it home each time, it's never need a tow *knock on wood*

Somewhat agree. Somewhat disagree.

You don't have to worry about fuel management as much with the v8 swap.

One can make the argument that more power with less technical complexity is a better setup.

With the sc, you have the trd 7th, another custom cpu, etc.

In a way yes, same electrical worries with the v8 swap, but again, the difference is aftermarket vs OEM, and no tuning or dynos required with the naturally aspirated route.

Either way, more power to you. Your 5spd supercharged must be amazing, I can only imagine [emoji2]

Or you could be insane and supercharge a v8 swap and add more injectors while at it [emoji13] like [MENTION=59542]Singtoe[/MENTION]

I love having a vehicle that my three Huskys are comfortable in the back or passenger seat (not all at once).
Also, love that little lever to right of the shifter in the Rocky Mountain snow.

Got the V6 and love being able to get around those on the freeway that are pissing me off.
