What do you use to get rid of tree sap/pitch?

We have a 2022 Barcelona Red ORP, picked up in March of this year. I have picked up some tree sap and pitch spots which the regular car soap won't touch. I thought of using old fashioned paint thinners, but don't want to damage the finish. Any ideas?

Goo Gone works pretty well. There are other products that work on this, just check in any auto parts store.

Turpentine. That is made from pine pitch. For tar use mineral spirits.

it will strip any wax thats left on the clear coat. make sure you wax it at a minimum. there are some silicon hybrid sealants available too (step down from a ceramic coating) you can then do a old school coat of wax over the sealant for an extra barrier of protection.

i've had good luck using a clay bar to remove some sap but it was not easy. chemicals are better, work smarter not harder lol

WD-40 works on alot of stuff. It's food de-gradable. I used LPS Degreaser on a paper towel just rubbed what was left from when I scraped off by stubby thumb nail.

Clay bay was a fail for me. Added to the problem.

I had a vehicle sit under a tree for over a year while I worked on it. Once fit mechanically, there was now the issue of sap covering the vehicle, dropped from a silver maple.

I am not the type to spend hours going over my paint with Goo Gone, however a few automatic washes (with brushes) will get it off completely.

Touchless are a waste of money for stubborn sap, I wouldn’t even try it. Maybe once it’s all gone if you prefer touchless.

I used LPS Degreaser on a paper towel just rubbed what was left from when I scraped off by stubby thumb nail.

Speaking as one who details cars for a living, good lord, no! The degreaser spray is going to be pretty tough on a painted surface. A paper towel is only a few steps away from sandpaper. Used together on a dark color, you're going to be able to see each individual "repair" after you're done.

My advice: Isopropyl Alcohol liberally applied to a clean microfiber towel. Gently rub the area with very little pressure. Let the alcohol dissolve the sap as opposed to trying to mechanically remove it. Polish and wax / seal the entire area when done.
