TRying to figure out what this plug may be for under fuse panel door?mI'm in Belgium and finally got my truck last week from the states, 2001 sr5. I had a mandatory rear foglight installed today and they tapped into this. It is hot only when key is on. Is it aux. Plug maybe for front foglamps which i don't have? Just wanting to make sure they did not use something they should not have. My French and Dutch sucks so not easy to communicate

That plug is for the dash mounted mirror control switch. You probably have power windows, so the same plug is also located on the driver's control panel in the door. The grey wire there is Accessory power, and will be hot whenever the key is in the ACC or ON positions.

So basically just an extra outlet depending upon model of 4runner it sounds like. Appreciate the help. Going to be a chore getting things done the next few years around here. Thanks again

Yup. That plug is only used on manual window 4Runners (that oddly, had power mirrors still). You'll find many extra plugs under the dash (my originally 2WD 4Runner has all the wiring for 4WD under the dash, including plugs for the rear diff locker)

That wire will work well to trigger a relay for a rear fog light - but make sure it isn't powering anything directly.

I hope they did it right. It is just powering a stupid red light similar to a constant on brake light below bumper. Odd but it does help in the fog and beats getting rear ended. Ugly little thing. Thanks
