What else are you into besides your ride(s)

Bouldering

Are those mats on the ground in case you fall?

How much do you weigh, if you don't mind me asking?

Shooting guns and Survival. I've been shooting for over 10 years and just got into survival a year ago after my cousins got me into EDC. Now, I dont know what the hell I was thinking before not being prepared.

I don't mean to make fun of you or your hobby, but for real, what in the world are you preparing for?

When you say, "EDC" I am not sure what you are talking about.

Yep. They're called crashpads. And I'm 5'10" and around 145 soaking wet. My sumo dreams ended a long time ago.

Haha, soaking wet with your hair grown out =p That looks pretty physically taxing, you should let me try some time! haha

I'll take you out anytime. We're always headed over the mountains to Leavy and even closer to Gold Bar when Leavy is too hot.

Racing of any kind. autox to drag, lots of fun and good stress reliever. Hoping to go professional, but if not build race cars is fun. I also play football everyother weekend.

To each is own, but preparation for a natural disaster is a must. My wife and I volunteer with the American Red Cross for natural disaster emergencies as we are both nurses. Been to Katrina and went to NY for 9/11 to help with emergency care and other disasters that were not really transmitted through the media. We live in earthquake country and it can hit anytime. People that are not prepared are left to parish as we have seen it and have to wait in line to get assistance for the basics; food, water, shelter and medical attention. If you are prepared you dont have to be in line with the rest of the population and can survive for yourself with out the need of help from your government and others.

EDC is "everyday carry". Look it up and you will never be caught off guard when **** hits the fan small or large.

Good Luck!

I spend a lot of time hunting and fishing or just shooting in general. I spend a lot of weekends in the winter snowboarding too.

I think some people get fanatical about preparing for stupid things like Y2K. But I completely agree that once you've seen or been in a disaster, it makes you want to prepare - because they can happen just about anywhere. My problem (besides earthquakes) is that where I live, the disasters usually tend to be forest fires so stocking up the house won't help if the fire's coming my way. But, I can sustain myself for at least a week (maybe 2) just out of what I have in my truck. Not counting the animals I might shoot or the fish I might catch. But I normally carry enough canned food and water to last a while. Plus blankets, batteries, 1st aid, extra bandages, and a bunch of other misc. stuff like snake bite kits and water purification tablets.

You never know when you might break down somewhere remote or even slide off the road and down a ravine or something in the winter. It's better to prepare and not need it than not prepare and be up sh!t creek.

Brian, its true. You can create a B.O.B. (Bail out Bag) with supplies to cover at least 72 hours. 1 week is good to get to a safe place if you needed too. We were up in the la canada/flintridge fires in the angeles NF but there was not much we could do as the firefighters were doing majority of the work. We helped out in the make shift ER that was posted to help folks that were in need of medical assistance. What forest are you located in?

I live in the San Bernardino NF. We were evacuated for 2 weeks in 2003 during the Old Fire and for 10 days during the Grass Valley Fire in 2007. In 2007 my friends and I were already camping behind Big Bear when the fire broke out. The Forest Service found our site, told us about the fire and said we had to leave because they were closing down the whole forest. We were already camping so we just decided to head up to Mammoth/June lake area and camp up there and wait it out. We ended up camping up there for a week and a half on Grant Lake and had fresh trout for dinner almost every night.

Grant Lake is a beautiful area. We're heading up that way after the snow pack has melted some to do some camping/fishing as well. Trout for dinner is awesome!

Dogs... especially Great Danes and Dobermans

Here are a few of my GD. My Dobermans have both passed.
