What is this part?

Just got my third 4runner - 2017 TRD Off Road Premium. I had a 2012 SR5 that wasnt 4x4 and I am assuming this part is related to the 4wd system?

One on each side of the engine above the middle coil/plug. Both have tubes that lead to the part in the 2nd pic.

WaxFree, I'm almost certain that that is the Air Pump that was added in 2014 for emissions regulations.

I'm almost certain that that is the Air Pump that was added in 2014 for emissions regulations.

It was added in 2013 and takes up space that would be for a second battery.

It also makes changing the spark plugs a little more time consuming.

The item in photo #1 is the Bank 1 Secondary Air Switching Valve. Looks like part # 25701-31014. Cost at my dealer is $273.68.

The two gaskets that go with it are $3.24, each. part #17377-0S010.

Ask me how I know... :biggrin2: Hint: a group 31 battery will not fit in the space near that. :wave:
